Michael Gerard Chatelain passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 58. Born on December 2, 1964, he was the beloved son of the late Charles G. Chatelain and Freida C. Chatelain.
Michael is survived by his son, Michael G. Chatelain II, who was his pride and joy. He also leaves behind his loving siblings: Linda Chatelain Merstetter; Jean Chatelain and her partner, Derrick Schroff; Diane Chatelain Huttie and her children Emily Huttie, John Patrick Huttie, and Jolie Ferrio; and Charles G. Chatelain and his wife, Alyse, along with their children Christopher and Anthony. He is also remembered fondly by a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
From a young age, Michael showed a passion for entrepreneurship, starting several small businesses while still in school. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, he launched The Rose King, a mobile flower business that served car dealerships and restaurants. His work brought him great joy, and he took pride in serving others—always eager to help however he could.
Michael had a deep love for the outdoors. He found peace in camping, fishing, and hiking, and was active in community efforts, including participation in the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup program. He also had a talent for cooking, having won several chili cook-offs over the years.
Michael’s life, like so many, was touched by struggle. He faced challenges that at times became overwhelming, but he never lost the generous and kind spirit that made him beloved by those who knew him.
