Naureen Elizabeth Ryan Bateman, of Miramar Beach, FL passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025.
Naureen was born on December 4, 1942, to the late William Thomas Ryan and Catherine Joan Davis Ryan in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was the second of ten children. She graduated from Rahway High School in 1960. After graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Jack, while wrapping Christmas at Bamburger’s. They were married in 1964 in Rahway, NJ. Together they welcomed three children, John, Kelly and Bryan.
In 1979, Jack’s job moved the family to Lawrenceville, GA where they raised their children. She was a founding member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She and Jack made lifelong friends through their neighborhood, playing tennis and raising their children together.
In 2000 Jack and Naureen built their dream home in Miramar Beach, FL, where they eventually retired. They spent many summers there, hosting family and friends, until Jack passed away in 2013.
Naureen loved her family and children, but her pride and joy were her eight grandchildren. She was heavily involved in their lives, cheering them on at sporting events, taking them to piano lessons and hosting their friends for many spring breaks.
Naureen will be remembered as a strong woman, with an equally strong personality. She loved a Captain Morgan and Diet Coke, George Strait, and a sunset on the beach road.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Jack; her parents; and her sisters, Nancy and Ellen. She is survived by her three children, John (Collyn), Kelly (Scott), and Bryan (Beth); eight grandchildren, Lydia, Nick (Emma), Mallory, Angus, Jordan, Alex, Jamie, and Christopher; and one great-grandchild, Ruby. She is also survived by her siblings, Billy, Joe, Jimmy, Marylou (Bill), Betty Jane, Michael (Nancy), and Patrick, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Miramar Beach.
