(1945-2025)

Shelley Evans, 79, of Norcross, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025. Born Shelley Fischer in Decatur, Georgia, she was the youngest child of Donald and Patty Fischer. Shelley grew up in Decatur, where she excelled in golf and was a standout member of her high school drill team at Decatur High School.

After graduating, Shelley attended the University of Florida, where she met her husband, Richard Leggitt. Together, they raised two sons, Richard Leggitt Jr. and Lance Leggitt. Shelley’s professional journey began in television at WAGA TV Channel 5 in Atlanta. In the mid-1970s, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to found a moving company, which she successfully operated for over a decade. She later joined Krispy Kreme, where she led the sales department for charity events. In her later years, Shelley’s passion for helping others guided her to a fulfilling career at Sunrise Senior Living, where she worked until her retirement in 2015.

Shelley was an avid cook, traveler, and devoted pet parent to her cats, Zeus and Apollo. Above all, she cherished spending quality time with her family. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Leggitt Jr. and his wife Renee, Lance Leggitt and his wife Micah; her grandchildren, Faye, Derek, Matthew (his wife Rachel), Kirsten, Fischer, and Reece; and her great-granddaughter, Saoirse.

A private interment ceremony will be held at Decatur Cemetery.
