Burgess Baird, Jr.

July 8, 1943 ~ June 14, 2020
Born in:
Atlanta, Georgia
Resided in:
Braselton, Georgia
Burgess Baird Jr. (Papa) was welcomed home by our Lord and many loved ones Sunday morning 14th of June 2020. Burgess was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend to many loved ones. He was born July 8th, 1943 in Atlanta, grew up in Sandy Springs, and spent his entire life living in the state of Georgia. Burgess and Ann eventually resided in Braselton where they spent the last 20 years. In 1975, Burgess began his contracting business and he was still active every day in that business until a brief time before he passed away. He developed thousands of lots in the metro Atlanta area for various companies throughout the years, and his business is ongoing through his family. Burgess also served on the Gwinnett Council for Quality Growth for many years as well as the Braselton Planning and Zoning Commission. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially Ann, his wife of 53 years. Burgess could be found watching NASCAR races, working countless puzzles, watching Braves games, playing golf, bird/deer hunting, spending time with his grandkids, enjoying his back porch, reading books, the newspaper, and getting speeding tickets! He was a devoted member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford. Burgess Baird Jr. left an impact on everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. He was the hardest worker many of us have ever known, and he had a tender heart for many. A hole will forever be left in our hearts until we are blessed to see him again in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife Ann Hall Baird, son Jason Burgess Baird, daughter-in-law Heather Lynn Baird, granddaughter Sydney Lennox Baird, grandson Conner Burgess Baird, sister Melissa Hunt, sister Katherine Schubert, brother-in-Law Ashley Schubert, brother and sister-in law Margaret and Rick Mills, sister-in-Law Miriam Hall, many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son James Stephen Baird, mother Katherine Baird, father Burgess Baird Sr., sister Betty Baird Bryant, brother-in-law Kelly Hunt.

Love and prayers to the family .
My prayers and sympathy to Ann, Jason, Heather and family. I will always remember Burgess with fondness. I have many special memories from when he invited our office to spend time on his boat in the 80’s. I’m so glad I was able to share in the company’s 25th anniversary celebration cruise. He was always generous and kind. Rest in God’s Eternal Peace, my friend.
Prayers with the Baird Family.
Can picture Burgess now in heaven driving that silver corvette while sportin a brand new pair of cowboy boots

My deepest sympathy to Ann, Jason, Connor and all of Burgess’s family. Burgess was truly one of of the good ones. He stood by what he said and his word could be taken to the bank. Burgess was more than a client, he was a true friend. He will be deeply missed. I’m going to miss finding a “damn good bbq spot” with him. Rest In Peace Mr. B.

Burgess me and my brothers shooting on his farm after my father’s funeral. I was a child when I first met him and recognized him as a teen. His sorrow for us was sincere, his concern genuine. I remember the looks and wondered what he could be thinking and why we were out there. As a 50 yr. old adult w a 22 yr old son and a 5 yr old son…. with a little more understanding, I am truly appreciative. It was a wise, considerate, kind, and thoughtful gesture. I know his friendship and love for my father was genuine and only now as I am older do I realize that in the short time we had there, he was not only giving my mother time to visit and mourn, he was also giving some loving distraction to some young boys who needed it terribly. I appreciate that so much now and can only thank him and wish him well. His soul shined that day for us as I’m sure his loved ones surely understand. Thank you.
