Carey Irene Hayes of Lithonia, Georgia passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Emory Hospital. She was born on February 20, 1974 to the late Leroy and Lucille Wilson of Maryville, TN.

Carey was born February 20, 1974 in Maryville, Tennessee. She was attending Piedmont Technical College in Decatur, GA, where she was studying to become a Phlebotomist.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to feed the ducks in Stone Mountain Park, arts and crafts, as well as gardening. On occasion, she even beat her husband at a game of pool in their basement and later celebrated her victory by relaxing in their hot tub.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Dr. John D. Hayes, Jr.; two sisters, Leann Ellison (Bob) and Christie Robinson (Paul); three sister in laws, Rosetta Fortune, Mary Price (Robert) and JoAnn Blue (Terrell); two children, Brandon Karr, and Gina Wilson, three step-children; Grace Hayes-Brown (David), Janice Marable (Shamika) and Thomas Bruno. Her four grandchildren: Isaiha Hernandez, Juana Marie Hernandez- Wilson, Elijah Godley and Kamryn Marable; and a host of other relatives whom she loved dearly.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Leroy and Lucille  Wilson and Amy Gamble, her older sister.

The viewing will be held Monday, May 20th at 9:30 a.m. at Woodstock Baptist Church, Rockbridge RD, Stone Mountain, GA 3000. Services will be held immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Friends can send flowers and cards to Wages and Sons Funeral home located 1040 Main St. Stone Mountain, GA 30083
