Connie Sue White Magill – February 26, 1957 – August 17, 2019
Born at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to Benjamin Bruce and Sarah Aileen (McClure) White, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa Magill (Theron) Thackery; grandchildren Waylon Aubrey and Gracie Ray Thackery; sister Patricia (White) Attaway; and brothers Ben B. White, Jr, Stephen W. White, and Douglas A. White.
She was a very creative person, having worked along side her parents at their flower shop on Peachtree Street in her younger years. During her teen years and early twenties, she was extremely talented at playing foosball, winning national championship titles including first place in Women’s Doubles.
In her later years, she persevered through adversity and always strived to help others even while experiencing personal hardship. She was a kind soul with a huge spirit who used her experiences to advocate for people with mental illness and fight the stigma that surrounds mental health. She organized the very first mental health fair in Decatur, Georgia and created a directory of support locations for the mentally ill that she distributed to those in need.
She was a sweet and kind-hearted person who dearly loved her family and she will be profoundly missed. A private ceremony for family and friends to celebrate her life will be organized by her daughter in the forthcoming weeks.
