Born in: San Antonio, TX
Resided in: Atlanta, Georgia

Mark Charles Edwards, 62, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2014. He was an extraordinary man with a magnetic personality, gentle heart and old soul. He was loved and admired by everyone who crossed paths with him, who entered his world. Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2014. Time and place to be determined. Mark was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 29, 1952. He graduated from Georgia State with a journalism degree. Mark loved words and started writing at a very early age. He continued his love of words by writing songs which he performed with his two bands, Kilowat and Interceptor, in the 70’s and 80’s. He was a natural performer, natural guitar player. He loved to entertain, whether it was playing music, sharing stories or telling you one of his famous Mark “jokes”. For the last 35 years he worked in the Trade show/Exhibit industry. His colleagues always enjoyed working with him for they looked forward to hearing a new joke, stories about his beloved dog Sting, because he was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. He loved music, books, New Orleans Jazz Fest, his dog, his cat, St. George Island, his wife and his loyal friends. He was most content visiting St. George Island, reading a good book, listening to the ocean, walking Sting on the beach, checking out the local musicians in the evening. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Kristina Edwards, brother Graham Edwards, sisters Faith Anderson, Shyler Edwards-Underwood, his Grandmother Annie Lee Adams, Aunt Nancy Edwards, nieces and nephew, numerous family relations, his dear and loyal friends, his beloved dog Sting and cat Bella. Mark was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charles H. Edwards and Ann Edith Adams Edwards. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by his wife. For 25 years they were partners in crime and each other’s best friend. For 25 years they shared one name, Mark and Kris, Kris and Mark. His spirit will remain with us in a shared story, a notorious joke, his offbeat humor and his beautiful smile. Long live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Mark’s favorite charities. Noah’s Ark, Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Words are never enough at these times. Know that the love and prayers of many are surrounding all who feel his loss, as
are the grace and love of the Divine. On a show floor populated by bright, gifted people, Mark’s presence was noticed and
appreciated; his love of a good joke was a welcome addition. His ability to converse on a wide variety of subjects both
mundane and arcane revealed a passion for, and joy in, life; these qualities enhance the lives of all around, in ways beyond common understanding. Very sad news to hear.

  2. My dear friend,
    Never missed a performance.
    This saddest of shows.
    My memories, your encores,
    Love, John

  4. My deepest sympathy to the family. Never stop believing in God, strenghten your faith through his Word.
