Alice Joanne Sellers, (Joanne to all who knew her), age 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8th, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jack Sellers, and her brother, Frank Herold. She is survived by her two sons, David Sellers of Kansas City and Dennis Sellers of Clermont, FL, her daughter, Lori Weitzel, and son-in-law, John Weitzel, of Lawrenceville, and 4 grandchildren: Brian, Brent, Derek, and Amanda. Joanne was born, grew up, graduated high school, and married Jack Sellers in Peoria, IL. She raised her three children in Springfield, IL, and went to work in payroll for Sangamo Electric. In 1978, she moved to the Atlanta area with her husband, Jack. Joanne was a caring wife and mother, hard-working, and a good cook. She adored animals and was lovingly devoted to her family, supporting all her children’s endeavors, from PTA and school activities, to sports, band, and girl scouts. She enjoyed shopping and craft festivals, but her favorite love outside her family was music. She began singing in the church choir and progressed to singing in Sweet Adelines for nearly 30 years, both in shows and competition. She volunteered at a local area hospital after retirement. Joanne will be laid to rest with her husband in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, Georgia, after a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Joanne to your favorite charity. Online condolences can be expressed in her guestbook here at www.wagesandsons.com.
