Born in: Haiti
Resided in: Georgia

Anita Girard, better known as Manzo, was born and raised in Morne-Rouge, in the commune of Plaine-Du-Nord, in Haiti. Over time, she left Morne-Rouge to settle in Vaudreuil, where she began her career as a talented business woman.

She was a wise, kind and extremely hardworking woman. Although she did not have the chance to receive a formal education, she possessed a remarkable inteliigence and a keen business sense. She understood the importance of education and made sure that her children benefited from all possible opportunities. She dedicates her life to us, offering unconditional love and support. After we left for the United States, my mother realized her dream of immigrating to this country so desired by many Haitians. In 2001, she started a new life here, in the United States, living with her son in Boston. She spent several years there before settling in Lawrenceville, Georgia, with her only daughter, Brunette Francois. She had seven children.

Aside from her parents, Anita was preceded in death by three of her six sons. She is survived by her remainder three sons; Dennis Girard, Iphene Desir, Benjamin Desir and her only daughter, Brunette Franoois. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

My mother, Anita, left us on April 27, 2025, leaving a huge void in our hearts. That strength, that resilience and his unconditional love will forever be engraved in our memories. She will pass on the values of hard work, compassion and wisdom to her children. His legacy will continue to live on through us.

Anita’s funeral will be held at Good Samaritan Haitian Alliance Church followed by burial at Gwinnett Memorial Park.
