Barbara Anne Weisenborn, affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, or “Mrs. B,” passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, at the age of 75, in Snellville, GA. Born on September 20, 1948, in Dayton, OH, Barbara’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara began her career in 1980 and retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and passion in her roles as a bakery manager for WinnDixie in Gainesville, GA, a master cake decorator for Ingle’s in Lilburn, GA, and a lead technician and broker for the southeast territory of Atlas Foods.
Growing up as the daughter of a U.S. Air Force Chief Officer, Barbara spent her early years traveling across the USA and as far away as Okinawa, Japan. Her adventurous spirit and love for new experiences enriched her life and shaped her into the remarkable woman she became.
As the ultimate “Team Soccer Mom,” Barbara lovingly raised three children and became famous for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. She was affectionately known as Mrs. Christmas, and her passion for the holiday season was unparalleled. Children and adults alike would line up to walk through her enchanting house filled with Santa’s elves, angels, and at least six different Christmas trees. Sharing her love of the Christmas spirit brought her immense joy.
Barbara had a deep appreciation for birds, blue & white china, and weekend auctions, which kept her busy and entertained year-round. With a larger-than-life personality, Barbara loved celebrations, walking on the beach, indulging in chili dogs at the Varsity, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. One of her proudest moments in her life was being in the lives of her grandchildren – never forget that y’all have an angel watching over you, keep reaching for the stars and Grandmother’s love will shine bright!
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Richard Barratt Weisenborn, Sr., of Snellville, GA; her loving son, Richard Barratt Weisenborn, Jr.; her daughters, Anne Elizabeth Butsch of Duluth, GA, and Elizabeth Barratt Godwin of Dacula, GA; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; her sister, Grace Petit of Rockford, IL; and her brother, Tom Zollars of Castleberry, FL.

Dick, I am so very sorry for the loss of Mrs. B. She was an amazing woman who with no doubt, lit up every room she was in. She taught me more street smart sense than any peer and I sure do thank her for that. She was a firecracker and she will be missed by so many. I send my sincerest condolences to you, Rich, Anne, Beth and the rest of the family.
I was lucky enough to have had my very own batch of cookies made just for me. I ate everyone of them. I felt so special and remember the deliciousness and the love behind every bite. I cherish those cookies like we all cherished Miss B.
She loved her family so much and meal time you could see her family arrive one by one until the house was spilling over to the the outside. Friends and neighbors would gather there because they were family also.
Remember her love and the special times that centered around meals, family and being together. Miss B will be missed. But I have a feeling there are some pretty terrific company in Heaven and they are celebrating as well.
To my uncle and cousins, I send my heartfelt condolences and raise all of you up in prayer. Aunt Barbara will always be with you. I hope you will find some comfort knowing that she has been reunited with all of our family that has gone before us, looking down on us from heaven above. 😇
To Rich and family-please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time. May you find strength in all of your precious memories.
