Billie June Shufflebarger-Leonard (1925-2016) Billie June Leonard (June), age 91, peacefully passed away in her sleep the morning of July 25th, 2016. She was a resident of ’Angels Garden’ in Dacula, Georgia at the time of her passing. June was born in Oakland, California on June 7th, 1925 to parents John D. and Nora Shufflebarger. She lived a full and vibrant life while growing up primarily in the mid-west and northern United States then later moving to Seneca, SC and finally settling in Lawrenceville, GA. June graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Ohio in 1943 while making plans to marry her beloved high school sweetheart, Samuel B. Leonard. Sam and June were later married on September 25, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri where Sam was stationed in the Air Force. During their wondrous and fulfilling years of marriage, they had 3 children and shared an ir-replicatable love for each other. June worked at various jobs throughout her life and enjoyed helping others in need. Through her lifelong membership with Beta Sigma Phi, and being an active member of the Presbyterian Church and it’s various ministries, she found ongoing joy and fulfillment in her life. Despite the contentment and peace she had in her life, she was most fulfilled and felt completed with the cherished time she spent with her family and in the "making of memories" together. June will be remembered as a dedicated steward of the Lord, latter devoted wife and beloved sister, a loving mother, and a wonderful cookie and fudge making grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel B. Leonard and son Dr. Kenneth E. Leonard. She is survived by her two daughters Bethany (Dr. Ralph) Hefner of Westerville, Ohio and Sharon (James T.) Clark of Wheeling, West Virginia. She is further survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Ann Leonard (wife of the late Dr. Kenneth E Leonard). She will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 28th, 2016 at Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in memory of Billie June, to the Building Fund, Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 800 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
