December 15, 1938 ~ February 18, 2024
Carol Ann Weaver Christman, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, passed unexpectedly but peacefully on February 18, 2024. Carol was born December 15, 1938, to Harold and Eathle Weaver in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Jefferson High School as valedictorian in 1956. She moved with her family to Stone Mountain, Georgia in June of 1969. She lived in the same house in Smoke Rise for 54 years. Carol earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems at Georgia State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1986. After graduating, she got a job at Oxford Industries in downtown Atlanta where she made many friends working as a computer programmer and a project manager until she retired in 2006. She played ALTA for many years, serving as team captain for several seasons, and made many life-long friends. In her later years she enjoyed weekly card games and book clubs with these same friends.
She was a proud mother to her six children: Scott (wife Jackie), Jenny (husband Steve), Jeff (wife Nancy), Terri (husband Jimmy), Tammy (husband Glenn) and Jill (late husband David). She was also a proud “Nanny” to her 12 grandchildren: Jon, Jamie, Ashley, Amanda, Ansley, Brandon, Lindsay, Meagan, Melissa, Melinda, JD, and Sarah, as well as 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews.
Her family will miss her so much and will forever cherish the memories they share because of her. Carol is remembered for her love of music, books, birds, flowers and butterflies. She loved having her family together. Her friends were also such an important part of her life. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Eathle Weaver, and brother Eugene Weaver. Reading this message about Carol this AM brought a flood of memories beginning with the first day we met in the summer of 1969…….we were new neighbors , our houses being 2 houses apart…and our children the same ages. We were dear friends and neighbors for the next 12 years sharing joys and tears…..mostly joys in our great neighborhood, Smoke Rise. We moved away after that but touched base once in a long while…….She will always be remembered as a loving mother and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Carol was a great gal- fun to be with – smart, friendly , and interested in what you had to say. I was a bridge friend and enjoyed many hours of bridge with her and other games. She always liked to go to Lake Oconee in our group. I admire her perseverance these last few years with her “keep going” attitude. I will miss her so much.
I only saw her a couple of times. She was a very sweet, and kind Lady. I know she will be deeply missed.
Carol raised 6 great children. I am blessed to have one of them as my sister in law. She taught them kindness and forgiveness. Amazing woman!
Scott, Jeff, Jenny, Tammy, Terri & Jill…
