Cathy Claire Weed

January 11, 1980 ~ June 24, 2023
Born in:
Decatur, Georgia
Resided in:
Lawrenceville, Georgia
Cathy Claire Weed of Lawrenceville, GA, went to be with the Lord June 24, 2023 at the young age of 43. Cathy was a loving mother, daughter, sister, favorite aunt and friend. She is survived by her beloved son Grayson; mother Phyllis Weed; sisters and brothers in law Sharon and Ron Roberts, Janet and Shannon Sheppard, and Jeff Lovett; nieces and nephews Chris Lovett, Lauren (and Jonathan) Pinner, Charlie Roberts, Collin Roberts, Parker Sheppard and Kylie Sheppard.
While Cathy’s life was taken too soon, the people who knew her knew the quality of her life greatly exceeded the quantity. Cathy grew up in Lawrenceville, GA and graduated from Collins Hill High School in ’98. She graduated from University of Georgia in ’02 with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences, Furnishings and Interiors. Her creative skills led her to kitchen and bath design working for Founders/Ferguson for 17 years. She was a truly sweet and dedicated soul who always put others before herself. To know her was to know her passion for the Georgia Bulldogs and fall football (GO DAWGS!) Possibly the only thing she loved more was being a mother to Grayson and watching, supporting and growing him in sports and community. The passing of Cathy has shocked us all, but in faith we move forward.

I just heard about Cathy’s passing last night. Emmett and I are heartbroken for you, Grayson and your family. I cannot imagine. Keeping you in our prayers
Words cannot describe the loss of such a wonderful soul. Our love and prayers to Cathy’s family. I will see you in heaven one day friend. Ellen ❤️
My heart has been so heavy since hearing the news. My cousin and I shared a name “C. Weed” and an avid love for all things UGA. Prayers for peace and comfort for all of the family, particularly Grayson. Cathy had an illuminating smile and simply radiated warmth. She was a gift to all that were blessed to know her.
My prayers go out to Grayson and all of Cathy’s family. I did not know Cathy as an adult but taught her in Pre-K at Lawrenceville First Baptist when she was four. She was a delightful child who I am sure became an adult loved by all who knew her.
Gray & Meme,
We are so heartbroken. Cathy was one of the greatest people we’ve ever known. You all took us in and accepted us like we were your own family at a time when we really needed it. We will forever cherish our great memories of UGA games on the porch, pool parties and sleepovers. Sending you all the love and support from Connecticut.
My heart aches for Grayson and this beautiful family. My condolences and continued prayers for each of you.
I’m so sorry! I don’t have words to say. I’ll be praying for your family and friends
So sorry to hear the news. God bless and may the Lords mercy, grace and peace cover the family.
Lance, Nancy and Bodie Liggin
In Christ, there are no goodbyes.
God bless you, son. Amen.
I’ve know Cathy since Kindergarten. She was always one of my favorite people. I’m so deeply sorry for her family and for her son Grayson whom I did have the pleasure of coaching. You have turned into a fine young man, and solid catcher on the baseball field; a leader. Words can’t help in these situations, but the sport can. Continue to grow Gray, good things happen as long as you continue to step up to the plate. Deepest condolences from the McCoys.
