Born in:
Thomasville, Georgia
Resided in:
Stone Mountain, Georgia
Charles E. (Ed) Clark died April 24 after a two year battle with liver disease. Ed was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and mentor. Ed retired from Georgia Power after 44 years of service. He worked as an engineer and project manager in a variety of areas, including distribution, substation test, marketing, and he was a member of the company’s Olympic team where his client was Stone Mountain Park. He loved to tinker in his shop, and on the family farm in Thomasville. He loved to help people, especially his family, and was always reaching out to make sure everyone was okay. Growing up a dog lover, he would tell you he didn’t like cats. However, he really did, and you could hear him each day talking to his beloved four-legged children, who miss him dearly. He loved teasing people (sometimes a little to hard) and traveling with friends. When he discovered estate sales, he found a new passion. He was so excited whenever he found some “treasures”. That passion turned into a new job when he began working the sales. It also brought him a new family of friends. He loved talking to people & this job gave him a great avenue. He loved to haggle prices with everyone! He and Del continued to go to sales after he got sick, so he could see his friends, which were both customers and coworkers. But most of all Ed loved his family. His loving heart will be missed by many! Ed is survived by his wife of 27 years, Del Hightower Clark; his brothers David Clark (Tina) of Douglasville, and John Leslie Clark (Cathy) of Kingsland, GA; his sisters Stacey Myrick of Thomasville, and Darlene Daniels (Ken) of Jasper, FLA; brother-in-laws Chris Hightower & Scott Bartley, Santa Rosa, CA; nephews Justin Myrick (Jessica) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Joshua Clark, Clearwater, FLA; niece Whitney Myrick McMullen (Robert) of Thomasville,GA; great-nephews Trace McMullen and Mason McMullen of Thomasville, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny & Betty Clark; brother-in-law Mark Myrick; and niece Brigitte Bailey.

Del & the Clark family
Ed Clark was charming, playful and very wise. He was always so interested in so many things which highlighted his intelligence. He was always so generous & shared his knowledge of ALL THINGS ESTATE SALES & WHATNOT. I learned so much from him about tools, furniture, glass & what-not. Any tool with a man’s name, like Stanley, was worth something! He would say to me, “don’t let them intimate you.” Most importantly, I loved the laughter & quick-witted humor Ed shared. He loved to laugh & knew the power it had to make people feel welcomed & important. “Hey Girl” he’d always greeted me every time we would begin a sale. I would give him a big bear hug & ask what he brought for lunch. I’ll miss that along with Ed’s big- hearted laughter & zest for life. RIP dear Ed you are now sleeping among the stars.
Del, My heart aches for you.
Love, Jenny
Ed Clark was a friend of mine. We worked together at GPC for over 30 years and I respected him as much more than just a fellow employee. He was “one of a kind”. If you didn’t like Ed Clark there was something wrong with you not him. I’m really going to miss him.
One of the happiest days of his life was when he married Dell. I am thankful that they had many years together.

Ed was my dearest friend for 30 years and has always been a positive influence in my life and my son’s life. I’ve been very fortunate to have had Ed as a true friend.
What a great man. I will miss him.

Ed was my stepfather from his previous marriage and I grew up living with him from infancy until about 1989 when the divorce happened. I was about 16 then. He taught me a lot of things. I’ll never forget visiting his parents house in Thomasville when I was 13 or so. His mom and dad made me feel really welcome and his dad taught me to play cut throat nine-ball. I live in Japan with my wife now. We frequently go out to shoot billiards, and I never fail to remember that trip every time. So sad to think everyone I spent that weekend with has now passed on. In 1986 when the divorce rumblings were at their peak, Ed took pity on me I guess, and did a lot of special things for me and continued to do so long after he and his ex were no longer speaking at all. The nice things he did for me that year form some of the most nostalgic memories of my youth. Thanks for that, Ed.
