Charles Stanley Montgomery passed away peacefully at his home in Conyers, GA on May 21st 2025 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Born on Feb 1, 1954, he lived a remarkable life for 71 years. He is survived by a large group of loving family and friends including his best friend Winston, companion Ann, caretaker Jo Ann, his sister-in-law Paulette, 3 nephews, Marc, Mike and TJ, 2 aunts Sue and Betty and a sister Judy. As the owner of a successful car dealership for over 40 years, his work helped improve people’s lives. Born in LaGrange, Ga., he grew up in the Decatur, Stone Mountain area. He graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1972 and later became a Dekalb county police officer before settling in as a well-respected business owner to the car industry.
Charles was an avid golfer. He also loved good food, beach vacations and spending time with the people he loved. He was thoughtful, kind, smart, and very funny. Whether you called him Charles, Charlie, Mr. Montgomery or Big Cheese, he would help you if you needed help, visit you if you needed a friend, advise you if you needed advice and certainly feed you if you needed food. Always ready with a funny story, one liner, or just an ear to listen. He was always positive and handled difficult situations with ease.
Throughout his life, Charles always put the needs of others ahead of his own. He regularly donated to children’s charities, and he always contributed to fund raisers for kids when asked. He was someone to look up to and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial service for Charles will be held at Wages Funeral home at 1040 Main Street in Stone Mountain, GA. 30083 on Friday, May 30th at 12:00.

Charles was a tremendous person. He was always so loving and caring. He was my Lieutenant at DeKalb SO in 1977 and truly became part of my family. He was always there for us and I loved him dearly. I can´t believe he has passed but I know he is in heaven making everyone laugh. God bless, rest in peace!
