Cody Reed Butler

On Friday, December 2, 2022, Cody Reed Butler, loving son and brother, passed away at age 30.

Cody was born on November 23, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia to Mickey and Melissa Butler. He graduated from Faith Academy High School in Buford, Ga., before moving on to Georgia Gwinnett College majoring in Sports Broadcasting and Communications.

As a freshman in college he became a loyal fan and follower of the GGC Grizzlies Baseball Team. He began a social media account following the baseball team, reporting scores and highlighting plays, creating a relationship with the Baseball Program’s Athletic Director, Coaching Staff, Players and parents. That relationship inspired his career as a Social Media Specialist and Freelance Sports Journalist.

Cody began his career in Freelance Sports Journalism evaluating essential qualities of prospective freshman football players for Youth 1 and Max Preps. When he began working in Social Media, Cody created NAIA BALL, an online media platform merging Social Networks, Media Sharing Networks, Discussion Forums etc… together to highlight the often overlooked NAIA Baseball Association. He also started the highly acclaimed, NAIA BALL Podcast. Quoted, “a visionary” and “took a sport that was hidden and made it shine publicly” are just a glimpse of the appreciation, respect and love from coaches, players, parents, colleges and universities that make up the NAIA Association.

He was known for his quick and sometimes, sharp wit, infectious smile and his kind and compassionate heart and spirit. To know him was to love him. He was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan, naming his dog, Crimson Tide Butler. “Roll Tide”.

Family and friends will gather at Collins Hill Park under the Pavilion by the lake for a Memorial Service at 7:30PM on Friday, December 9, 2022.
