Darryl “Scott” Burtch, age 62, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia surrounded by love and his family after a 4-1/2 year courageous battle with cancer. Scott is survived by his wife, Leslie and his daughters, Dana Welch, Sarah Burtch, and Amanda Burtch of Georgia; his son-in-law Aaron Welch and granddaughters Sophia and Olivia Welch of Georgia; his siblings Douglas and Frank Fiumano-Burtch, Deirdre Varney, Gary and Barb Burtch, Fritz Burtch, Sharon Starkey, Richard and Beverly Starkey, Edward and Donna Starkey, Melanie Cross, Cindy LaFountain, Tim Starkey, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, all of New York. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Frederic and Margaret Burtch of Baldwinsville, New York. Scott was born on May 11, 1958 in Auburn, New York to parents Frederic and Margaret Burtch. He served in the U.S. Navy from December 1976 to march 1980 as a Boiler Technician aboard the USS Semmes. In 1980, he moved from New York to Illinois and accepted a position as an Authorized Nuclear Boiler Inspector for The Hartford Steam Boiler Co. where he worked for more than 10 years. Scott married Leslie in 1981 and the couple had three daughters together. They relocated to Georgia in 1989 where Scott built a business in Hydro Power Engineering. He retired from Voith Siemens, Inc. in 2016 where he worked as a Senior Project Manager for the Meldahl Hydro Dam Project on the Ohio River in Kentucky. Scott was a great family man and loving father. His work was his passion, he enjoyed all things outdoors, and loved playing golf. His family and friends will always remember Scott as a loyal and loving man. Scott’s final resting place will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, New York.
