Donna Jean Decker, 73, of Buford, GA went home to her Heavenly Father on February 1, 2012. Donna worked tirelessly for more than 25 years for the Veterinary College at the University of Georgia before retiring from the school. Her dedication to the college was only surpassed by her love for her family. There was nothing that made her happier than big Sunday dinners surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lois Hess of Storm Lake, Iowa where Donna grew up, and by her son, Brion Decker. She is survived by her sons, Colin Decker; Todd Decker and his wife, Robin; Bill Decker and his wife, Jenny; and Steve Decker; her beloved grandchildren – Daniel, Christopher, Sarah, Rebecca, Jake, and Will; sister, Mavis Hauser and her husband, Dick; brothers, Ron Hess; Roger Hess and his wife, Lonnie; Randy Hess and his wife, Sue, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 5, 2012 with a viewing preceding the service from 12:00 to 2:00 at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Donna's honor, to the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Office of Development, 501 D.W. Brooks Dr., Athens, GA 30602. So sorry to hear about Donna! Worked with her many years at the CVM at UGA.
She will be missed.
We enjoyed working with Donna for many years in fund raising and alumni relations. She did a great job.
Steve, David and I know know how difficult loss is and our thoughts are with you.
So very sorry to hear about Donna. As a member of the class of 2000, I remember her as an extremely nice woman who was always willing to help.
Donna was very special to our family, and to Milton, who worked with her on alumni occasions. She was such a wonderful help to him, and always able/willing to do anything to help out everyone. She will be missed! Sonia Adsit.
Bill and I extend our deepest sympathy in the loss of Donna. I worked with Donna at CVM for 17 years and have many fond memories. She was a great gal. She will be missed.
Our sincere condolences to Donna’s family for the loss of Donna. We always felt like we had a personal friend in the CVM office. She took wonderful care of all of her students and alums. We will miss her special generosity.
