Delores Ashmon Peterson was born on August 31, 1949 in Macon County, Georgia to Willie and Florence Ashmon. At the age of 11, she took the role of mother for her younger siblings. She went on to put herself through college and earned both a Bachelor and a Master degree. Through her entrepreneurial nature, she was able to open many successful businesses. Delores loved cooking, traveling, casinos, and her family. Delores is survived by Elijah Peterson, her husband of 45 years, their two children, Erica and Jason, her grandson Jarrett Rice and son-in-law, Richard Rice. Also left to mourn are sisters Alberta Harris, Lillie Ruth Ambles, Carolyn Tharpe, Mamie Mills, and Victoria Rice. Brothers Freddie Ashmon, Willie C. Ashmon, and Calvin Ashmon. Sisters-in-law Nettie Ashmon, Geraldine Ashmon, Anna Ashmom, Mary Ashmon, and Bertha Ashmon. Brothers-in-law Richard Tharpe and Eddie Ambles. One uncle, Joseph Haugabrook and a host of nephews and nieces.

I shall forever cherish the memories of our college days and the connection we kept even beyond the hallowed walls of dear ole Morris Brown.
