Born in: Decatur, GA
Resided in: Snellville, GA

Denise Barrett Johnston, 60, passed away Wednesday July 1st, 2020.

Denise was born in Decatur, GA on May 27th 1960 to William V. Barrett Jr. and China Ann Barrett. Denise was raised in Decatur and graduated from Shamrock High School in 1978. The following year she married the love of her life, Michael, in July of 1979.

Although Denise worked in the insurance industry for 20 years, she would want to be remembered as a school bus driver who drove for Gwinnett County Public Schools for more than 15 years. She was a dedicated public servant who loved her career almost as much as she enjoyed the children she transported. She loved her bus children like they were here own and it was very apparent that the feelings were reciprocated.

Denise was an immensely caring mother and grandmother to her two children and two grandchildren. She was a devoted daughter and sister. Family was the most important thing to Denise after her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Denise was preceded in death by her mother, China Ann Barrett. Her survivors include her husband, Michael David Johnston, her son, Christopher David Johnston, her daughter, Brittany Ann Johnson, her father William Virgil Barrett Jr. (Honey), her brother, William Virgil Barrett III (Billy), and her two grandchildren Elizabeth Harmony Johnson and Russell William Johnson III
