Dr. Dharam Pal Kapil peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 10, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Jalandhar, India he was the son of the late Milkhi Ram Kapil and Daya Vanti Kapil. He moved to the United States in 1966 and earned his PhD in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. Dharam Pal devoted his career to economics as both a university professor and Economic Analyst for the U.S. Army Tank & Automotive Command in Michigan. In 2000, he and his wife, the late Dr. Santosh Kapil moved to Martinez, Georgia to be closer to their children. Dharam Pal was a respected member of the Hindu Temple Society of Augusta. He was active in social and religious activities in the community. He was a "foodie" and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed music, Bollywood movies, traveling, and learning about the latest in technology. He is survived by son Dr. Vikas Kapil (Nisha), of Johns Creek, Georgia; daughter Dr. Nidhi Gulati (Adarsh) of Martinez, Georgia; grandchildren Dr. Shikha Kapil, Vinesh Kapil, Shalin Kapil, Dr. Priya Gulati and Akash Gulati; sister, Padma Mahindra in Amritsar, India and extended family. Many thanks to the nurses, doctors and caregivers at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and also his in-home caregivers from Visiting Angels who watched over him with respect and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Wages and Son's Funeral Home at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, Georgia, 30046. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple, 492 Harmony Grove Rd, SE, Lilburn, Georgia, 30047 or the Hindu Temple Society of Augusta, 1421 Lukes Road, Augusta, Georgia, 30909.
