Born in: Cumming, Georgia
Resided in: Lilburn, Georgia

Donald “Donnie” James Harris, age 68, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away on April 10, 2023.  Donnie was born on December 26, 1954, in Cumming, Georgia.  After living in Camp Lejeune, NC for a few years, they returned to Cumming where he attended Free Home Elementary School.  Donnie was a 1972 graduate of South Gwinnett High School.  He worked for Corn Upholstery Co and Macy’s as an upholstery professional.  After retirement from Macy’s he continued in his own shop restoring furniture.  He also shared his experience in his trade with others.  He retired again in 2011 after multiple life surgeries included a brain tumor and heart issues.

A loving husband, he was married to his wife, Sue Korver Harris for 44 years.  They were truly soulmates, and he was always there.  They dated for 2 years, 2 months and 2 days before they were married in June 1978.   They would have celebrated their 45th anniversary in a few months.

Donnie had many lifelong friends and always enjoyed a good party.  He was known as artful story teller. Being “very frugal”, he could “pinch a penny” with the best of them.  He enjoyed being outdoors – whether working in his yard, boating or camping in his “rolling condo”, a 35-foot camper.  He loved his truck!  Other passions include playing cards, especially poker – Texas Hold ‘Em.  and like in life, he always played the hand he was dealt with optimism and a smile.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Hill and brother Michael Harris. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue Korver Harris, his son Justin (Katie) Glass, grandson Jameson Glass who called him Papa Donnie; his brother Jamie Hill (Teresa), nephews Michael (Riley) Hill and William (Lindi) Hill, grandnieces and grandnephews, Maddie Hill, Addy Hill, Trystie Hill, Brantley Hill;  sister Janice (Jon) Hilborn, niece Amanda (Cody) Norton; niece Lisa (Brett) Hyden and brother-in-law Ken (Kathy) Korver, niece Jessica Korver, nephews – Jeffery Korver and Jason Korver.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Wages & Son Funeral Home, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm.
