Doris F. McCall

doris mccall

Doris F. McCall, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

She found joy in life’s simple blessings: walking, gardening, traveling, and participating in the fellowship of her church. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Doris’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She lived with a sincere desire to share His love and message with everyone she met.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank McCall; her sisters, Annie Smith, Louise Lee, and Bobby Kinley; and her brother, James Gambell. She was a devoted and faithful mother to her son, Steve McCall (Janice), and daughter, Kathy Bostock (Bill). She was the proud grandmother of Greg Bostock (Brittany), Kristen Wells (Tyler), and Amanda Sowisdral (David), and a loving great-grandmother to 5 great-grandchildren. Her warmth and compassion extended well beyond her family, touching the lives of countless friends, neighbors, and fellow church members.

A woman of unwavering kindness and strength, Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM, with the interment to follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Atlanta
(4400 North Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30338 or https://fba.onlinegiving.org/donate/guest_donate?#!/) or Samaritan’s Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/) , two causes close to Doris’s heart.

Guestbook

  1. Kathy, Bill, Steve and Janice, My deepest sympathy to all of you. Your mom was a bright light in my life and a blessing. She was a special friend to me and I will miss her deeply. I will never forget all the wonderful memories. She was one of the best in my book.

With much love and sympathy, Kathe

  2. CandleImageSteve and Kathy, your mom and I would talk almost and hour every time we spoke on the phone. She was such a great comfort to me after my mom died. I will miss her terribly. Our deepest sympathy to all your family.

  3. Our deepest condolences to the family for the loss of your Mother. We have so many wonderful memories of Doris during our work at the church and in our Sunday School Class. She will be greatly missed.

  4. So sorry I was unaware of her passing, however I know the Lord had her in the palm of his hands and His plans did not need my approval. I am saddened that our Bible Class members were unaware of her passing, but pray Doris and her family know they will all be in my prayers for many years, because Doris’s cancer and mine appeared about the same time. They are a special part of our class and I pray their knowledge that Doris is now in God’s hands will ease their pain somehow.
