Dr. Keith Jeffords (64) of Smyrna passed away on Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024. Dr. Jeffords was a beloved physician and esteemed plastic surgeon in metro-Atlanta. One of less than 50 doctors in the U.S. with his unique background in multiple surgical disciplines and the founder of Paramount Plastic Surgery in Smyrna, Dr. Jeffords was a published and celebrated journal author who was frequently in demand as a lecturer at various medical seminars worldwide. He was a connoisseur of music and a 30-year member of the Atlanta Symphony Chorus.

An Atlanta native and son of a pastor, Dr. Jeffords was a 1977 graduate of South Cobb High School and a 1981 graduate of Lee College (now Lee University). He graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Emory University in 1988 and decided to further his medical education, being named a Clinical Fellow in General Dentistry at Harvard University, then a Chief Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. From there, Dr. Jeffords earned an M.D. at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1995 and trained in general surgery, then studied Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University of Pittsburg. In 2000, Dr. Jeffords went into private practice in Smyrna, Georgia where he was recognized as one of Atlanta’s Top Doctors for 13 years. Dr. Jeffords was awarded a proclamation from the State of Georgia in 2012 for lifesaving efforts he performed on a landscaper who sought help at his office door after nearly severing his arm with a chainsaw. Keith used his medical degrees for the good of man and extended his love of ministry into the world of medicine.

Dr. Jeffords is predeceased by his father, Rev. Kelland Keith Jeffords, Sr. of Waresboro; grandparents, Verdie Pye Flowers and Talmadge Hixon Flowers of Jesup, and Isabel Berry Jeffords and Charles Clyde Jeffords of Waresboro. 1. I will miss you greatly , my friend.

Since our days of first meeting on the quad at Lee in the 80s, you have been a kind and faithful friend through the years.

Thank you for your unselfish and Spirit-inspired gifts of goodness and kindness that you have shown to me and my family.

We are in despair of the news of your passing from this phase of existence. Nevertheless, we do not morn as do some. We have a blessed hope that one day through the perfect work of Christ Jesus we will see you yet again.

    1 Corinthians 15:1-7

  2. CandleImageKeith and I met in 1990, I was still in Upsilon and He came back as an alumni to homecoming. Keith was the president of Upsilon Xi, and the alumnus of the year in 1995. We would later get to know each other better in 1993 when he would go to EVMS. I was at Regent University studying journalism. Tom Johnson (upsilon man also attending EVMS) and I also spent many hours watching Braves games, studying for exams, going to church, and just talking. We have spent many hours talking through the years. We lost Tom tragically in 1997. He loved Lee University and Dr. Beach his mentor. Keith had a story for everything, one was him pulling my wisdom teeth. He was a great friend and fraternity brother. He will be missed. Keith was a lover of the symphony and church music. A musician, a scholar, a historian, a great physician, there is so much you can say about Keith. My heart goes out to his mother Nelia, and his extended family.

  3. I met Keith when he was tapped and inducted into Upsilon at Lee College (now University) in the spring of 1978. He quickly became one of the hardest workers as he served in our brotherhood’s service projects. He evolved from being our little brother into a leader. God bless and comfort his friends and family during this time.

  4. So sorry to hear of Keith’s passing. We have wonderful memories as college roommates and lifelong friends. Thank you friend for encouraging me in every chapter of my life. You will be greatly missed.

  5. I am so sad about this news. I’ve known Keith since we were little children. Our parents were all friends in ministry in Georgia—camp meetings, youth camps, Lee College, and beyond; Keith has been a friend. I will remember his laughter and mischief. But most of all, Keith loved Jesus. I do not doubt where he is. Move over and make room in the choir; he loves to sing. You will be missed, my friend!

  6. CandleImageI had the fortunate opportunity to shadow and intern under Dr. Jeffords at Jeffords Plastic Surgery. I was honored to follow his every day work life for a summer and observe countless surgeries. He was an incredible plastic surgeon – to see his work and talent firsthand was truly a blessing. Every patient was cared for with the utmost care and was always pleased and proud of his work. He was an admirable mentor and physician who was always a joy to talk to. I’ve always wanted to pursue medicine and he was a big supporter and advocate for me. I’m lucky to have known him and learn from him.

  7. I’m so shocked and saddened to hear of Keith’s passing. Back in our Lee days we made a lot of music together, served in Upsilon together (sharing the dubious honor of being co-lowmen during our induction), but my best memory may be of how much we laughed together. I regret that I didn’t act upon several urges over recent years to travel the short distance and spend some time laughing again and catching up with you. You lived an extraordinary life and it has been an honor to be your friend. Our love to all your family and friends.

  8. CandleImageCompletely shocked and heartbroken. Keith was truly one of a kind- talented, brilliant, funny – I know he will be greatly missed by all the family and all his friends and colleagues. Prayers for Aunt Nelia and all the family. Love you all.

  9. CandleImageKeith Jeffords will be missed by the Argo family. I’ve know him since high school and we’ve stayed in touch over the many years. I will miss all the funny stories he would tell us on the back porch. May you rest in peace, my friend, in Heaven, until we meet again.

  10. I have known Dr. Jeffords for well over 20 years. In fact, I was one of the ones who helped him start his private practice. I have not seen him in several years but anytime we had our encounters it was always a blast. Keith will surely be missed with his quirky sense of humor

  11. CandleImageIt is impossible to explain my sadness. Keith was an Allstate trumpet player in my South Cobb band; officer, leader and total supporter!! He literally saved my life at the beginning of COVID when my Dr. had no idea what was wrong or what to do. I am so grateful for his impact on my life and our loving friendship. And was truly a son to Mom and me! I will always miss you!

  12. CandleImageI can still hear his laugh even though I have not personally seen Keith for decades. One of my best friends as musicians in the Blue Eagle band and he rode with me ( at the risk of his life) each Saturday morning to rehearsal as we played in the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. He encouraged, reprimanded and befriended me for our years together. I can still hear his trumpet sound- big, bold and beautiful. Heaven’s orchestra just gained a wonderful musician and person. Rest in Peace. Comfort to his family and especially his mom.

  13. I am saddened to hear that our beloved Dr. Jeffords has transitioned into eternal life. I’ve worked with Dr. Jeffords in the OR for a few years until he retired. It was always a pleasure. Our conversations were endless. Our discussions ranged from surgery to politics down to religion and of course his love for classical music. I can truly say that Dr. Jeffords has taught me quite a bit about classical music and music in general! Every time he would see me he would sing “Doraville” by Atlanta Rhythm Section after revealing to him that I lived in Doraville, Ga. I had no idea who Atlanta Rhythm Section was, but I do now! He would even test my knowledge of various classical music composers as we listened to his favorites during surgery. I had looked forward to seeing him sing in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as he did each holiday season! Dr. Jeffords was a great friend that I had been blessed to cross paths with throughout my life journey. God makes no mistakes.

Dr. Jeffords you will be missed my friend

  14. So sorry and sad to get this news! Keith, even though I’m a Chi guy I can honestly say that I always had respect and honor for you. As a dentist myself, I appreciate your academic accomplishments which way surpassed mine! I too enjoy music although I’ve never been the classical enthusiast that you were. RIP my friend and may the peace of God that surpasses all our understanding be with your family during this time and the days to come!

  15. CandleImageA truly kind, compassionate, and generous man. Among his many gifts, God used his amazing skills and talents as a musician and a physician to touch and transform countless lives. Keith, your physical presence on earth will be missed by all whom have ever had the opportunity to meet you. Go rest high on that mountain and bask in God’s infinite love and glory forever.

  16. CandleImageKeith, you were one of the smartest guys at South Cobb High School, yet you were friends with all you met. I’ve known you since 1974, and you always humbled your many talents in such a Godly manner. You have been a friend and inspiration to me over the years and I cherished your friendship. You will not be forgotten on this world and I look forward to seeing you in the next.

  17. CandleImageMy deepest condolences.
    Praying for the family.
I didn’t know Keith but I know the family and I’m sure he was a wonderful man. Because he was surrounded by the most beautiful and loving family I know. ❤️

  18. CandleImageHi All, Keith we will all miss you. You were a great surgeon and provider. Congratulations for all you accomplished. I’m sorry that you’re gone so soon. My prayers and condolences for you and your family. You made great contributions to healthcare and the arts. Thank you for all you did.

  19. Keith, there is a native American proverb that has you written all over it…

“When you were born, you cried and the whole world rejoiced. Live your life in a way that when you die you rejoice and the whole world cries.”

Mission accomplished, friend. You were a joy and a beacon of light through our 4 years of dental school together, as much a teacher of life as a friend, and far wiser than your years. You touched so many lives in ways many of us can only hope. Thank you for being you.

  20. CandleImageKeith, we were friends in middle school and high school. You were always so sweet and kind. I was very proud when we reconnected and saw the great things you did to help others in your professional life. I’m happy that we got to see each other this Summer. You will be greatly missed on this earth.

  21. To Nelia and all of Keith’s family, and to his beloved ASOC associates and his many friends too numerous to count, we pray for Holy Spirit comfort now and in the days ahead. Our friendship begin in 1999 as fellow ASOC members. That friendship grew into a beautiful association both in the Chorus and in the insurance world. One of our greatest experiences EVER was the weekend when we hosted one of many Pig And Pool Parties at our house and Keith true to form regaled us all with his life experiences interwoven with his unfathomable knowledge of classical music. Then the party moved from the pool area to our kitchen where he literally held court all night long! All of us who were there will never forget that evening that showcased his genius, his sense of affability and his care for his friends.
Keith, May you enjoy your new membership in the Heavenly choir, where we’re sure the Angels of Music ushered you right in without having to audition!!

  22. CandleImageTo Know you was An Honor, To be in your Presence was a Privilege, To Work with you was Always Laughter and Lots of Stories being told by you. You will be Greatly missed and I’m still in Shock that you are no longer with us. Sleep in Peace and you will never be Forgotten. 😘

  23. CandleImageThis last few days have been a little sad for me after losing such an amazing friend this week. Keith was such a motive force and mentor to me and others, as well as being a truly kind and always giving person. He was strongly supportive of me in our younger days when we were trying to figure out how to finish college, get through the challenges of dental school, get into a residency program, and then start our careers in surgery. He was always there for me, and we spent many hours together planning our lives and careers, as well as just being good friends. I would have never achieved in life what I have achieved if I had never met him, it seems. He had an affect on everyone around him that not only emanated from his joyous, positive attitude and contagious laugh, but also his compassion and caring for others that you could feel from the moment that you met him. He motivated SO many to challenge themselves and move on to a better education or career, or just to find your own true highest calling whatever it was. He always was accepting and loving of everyone and truly a pure soul in so many ways. I always loved and respected you and will be missed, Keith!!

  24. CandleImageKeith always said his weakness was social life. We exchanged long treasured gift at graduation 1981. In many ways our class were overachievers thanks to our professors and fellow encouragement. You have finished well and left countless good memories and laughs. A life lived well

  25. CandleImageJimmy and my heart are broken and even more we are so sad that we are not able to make it back home to attend your services. We are in Arizona attending Bobby’s rodeo and haven’t been successful in changing our tickets. This area had 3 events for the weekend and flights are over booked. Our love, prayers, thoughts, and minds are there. When we think of Keith it’s his laughter, his fun loving ways, how he could keep you entertained because he never forgot anything that happen so he could tell you stories about things you forgot. Until we meet again and stroll the streets of gold.

  26. CandleImageKeith, you impacted me, inviting me into your life and family when I had the opportunity to moonlight at Mableton and participate in the choir though my parents led the sister church in Lithia Springs.
We did so much together, along with others, during those years. Eventually rooming together at Lee. Your Mom told me that we’d both get into Hughes Hall as freshmen if I could also be diagnosed with a ‘deviated septum’ requiring air conditioning. My physician complied & we got in! I will also not forget being summoned with you to Dean Duncan’s office to be reprimanded for being the messiest student residents since Paul Dana Walker & David Cooper (oh, well, you can’t win them all.)
We may have only connected a couple times per year nowadays, but our history matters to me. You even set me up with an early girlfriend from your family.
Thank you for being my friend.
Thank you for being my roommate.
    Thank you for being.
    -Phil

  27. CandleImageThis world has list a bright light but his light shines on in all the wonderful memories we all share of Keith.

  28. CandleImageWhat a brilliant, hilarious, wonderful man! Keith and I grew up in the Church of God together, playing our trumpets in COG summer youth camps. We also spent the summer of 1976 together at Governor’s Honors, playing our trumpets and enjoying many laughs together. Keith was not only my friend, he was my plastic surgeon after my bi-lateral mastectomy. He was a brilliant musician and surgeon. I will truly miss him and his story-telling! I’m sure you’ll have greater stories for us when we see you again!

  29. MANY YEARS OF LOVE FOR YOUR FAMILY SUCH MEMORIES WILL STAY WITH US UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. WE WILL BE HOLDING YOU UP TO OUR FATHER FOR STRENTH WE LOVE YOU ANN AND CLYDE THACKER

  30. CandleImageKeith was such a special friend. I worked with him for many years and got to know him as a great friend. We had so many laughs and all the memories will forever be in my heart. He enjoyed his work so much and through his work he met lots of friends. He was a good surgeon and it was a pleasure to be able to work beside him. Keith you will be missed so much but I know you are in a better place for sure. I will keep you and the memories with me. You are so loved !!!!

  31. CandleImageMy deepest condolences for your loss.
Keith was an extraordinary man full of compassion and kindness. I have the fondest memories of Keith when he walked in the credentialing office at Wellstar Hospital to apply for privileges. It was then Keith and I started a friendship. Shortly after I had the pleasure to work with Keith in his plastic surgery practice. I’m an honored to have met a talented witty man full of knowledge and wisdom. Keith will forever be remembered. RIP

  32. CandleImageOMG!!!! WHAT????!!!! How did I miss this? I mean, I know how & why! Dr Keith Jeffords was a good dude and friend! We didn’t chat nearly as often as we once did when I lived down from office many years ago. I saw that he was retiring and was going to go by then saw he had retired and said I was gonna have to catch up, then I sent him a message this morning before going to his Facebook page to see what he’s been up too and expecting to see him singing his face off since he has the time. THIS is the last thing I expected to see!!! Gotta process this… Lesson: Procrastination can lead to serious regret!!! Rest well Friend! Well Done!!!
