Eileen I Norfleet

Eileen I Norfleet, a beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, at the age of 93 in Norcross, Georgia. She was born on September 20, 1930, in Georgetown, British Guiana, the second child of six, to the late Randolph and Mabel Rodrigues.

Eileen attended Queenstown Roman Catholic School and later Queenstown High School in Guyana, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to family, faith, and education. In 1949, Eileen embarked on a new chapter, migrating to America and settling in Brooklyn, New York. It was there that she met the love of her life, William Norfleet, in 1950.

Eileen dedicated several years of her life to Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, where she served as a paraprofessional. Her commitment to education left a lasting impact on the lives of many students.

A devout Catholic, Eileen found solace and strength in her faith, which she practiced throughout her life. She was the widow of William H Norfleet, who passed away on December 8, 1990. Eileen is survived by her three children, Denise, Randolph and his wife Patricia, and William.

Eileen was a vibrant soul who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing Bingo, showcasing her culinary skills by cooking her favorite dishes, Pepper Pot and Metemgee, and held the esteemed title of the monarch of her family.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband William, daughter Regina, brothers Frankie, Stanley, Compton, Randolph, and sister Beatrice. She is survived by her children Denise, Randolph, and William, along with seven grandchildren – John, Keysha, Gregory, Andreena, Quera, Jamel, and Vonnetta, and six great-grandchildren – Jazmine, John, Selena, Lyric, Amara, and Kerah.

A funeral service to celebrate Eileen’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 15th, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2140 Beaver Ruin Rd, Norcross, GA 30071. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Eileen leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory and the love she shared with all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
