Elizabeth Hudack Carpenter
1950 – 2021

Elizabeth Hudack Carpenter (commonly known as “Jinkie”), 70, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Northside Gwinnett Hospital. Along with her children and their families, she is survived by her husband, Dean Stewart Carpenter.

Born in 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jinkie graduated West Mifflin North High School in 1968. Following high school and through her adult life, she revealed her artistic talent in her lovely paintings, sewing, smocking, baking, gardening, and décor.

Jinkie and Dean married on January 6, 1973, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They eventually moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area in 1983. They attended Snellville United Methodist Church, where Jinkie belonged to and served as teacher for the Friendship Sunday School Class. Jinkie also sewed numerous quilts and decorative items that were sold in the church’s annual fall festivals.

Among her employment positions, Jinkie particularly enjoyed serving as class coordinator for Gwinnett Council for the Arts, where she took great pleasure in developing children’s artistic talent. Jinkie also worked as sales consultant for the Atlanta Sewing Center, where she fostered many individuals’ enjoyment of sewing and needle arts. Her other valued employment positions included executive assistant for Professional Training and Consulting, tag and title specialist for Saturn of Gwinnett, and sales consultant for European Sink.

In addition to her husband Dean, Jinkie is survived by two sons, Bryan and his wife Tasha of Easley, SC, and Eric and his wife Rebecca of Dawsonville, GA. She especially treasured her grandchildren: Owen, Layla, Malone, Tristan, Quinn, and Lorelei.

The memorial service is scheduled for Monday, October 25, 2021, at Snellville United Methodist Church in Snellville, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org) or to Snellville United Methodist Church (2428 Main Street East, Snellville, GA 30078).

Thank you for being a part of my children’s lives. May you find peace.

  2. CandleImageJinkie, I was there the first time that you met Dean.I witnessed a budding romance growing.I saw how your eyes would shine when you talked about him,and the dizzy dancing feeling when you were together.Soon there was a pledge,a promise of a future as bright and shiny as the diamond ring on your left hand. You changed your last name to Carpenter,Then 2 became 3,and 3 became 4.You had a family.Your heart was overflowing with love .Babies grew into boys, and boys to men.The family circle expanded, and so did the love you shared.Losing you has left them shattered and broken. The bond of a mother’s love endures forever.I pray that together they can be fortified and strengthen by that love as they navigate this difficult time.God’s peace be with you.

  3. CandleImageI was blessed to meet this wonderful lady through our shared love for Eric and Lorelei. Only a beautiful person could have raised such a caring man and loving granddaughter.

  4. My daughter, Melissa English and I (Elaine Williams), wish to let the Carpenter family know how very sorry we were to hear of Mrs. Carpenter’s passing away. I feel unfortunate to have never met her as I have heard so many lovely things about her.
Melissa has been friends with Eric since high school. As her mother, I would like to say what a loyal friend he has been to my daughter all these years and how very much my husband and I appreciate his kindness to her when it has been so important. Wanted also to be sure Eric knows he is appreciated. His parents have to be special people to have a son that cares so for his friends. Thank you.
Praying your family feel His love surrounding you all at this difficult time. (Melissa English) and Elaine Williams

  5. CandleImageI have only known Jinkie and Dean for the past eight years when they bought the farm in Cowee Valley, N C and became our neighbors. I was happy to learn she shared my interest in quilting, though her talents and experiences as a quilter far exceeded mine and those of most quilters I have ever met. Not only that, she was a kind and thoughtful person who always had a pleasant smile on her face. She was a devoted grandmother as well. I am heartbroken to learn of her passing. My heart goes out to Dean and all the rest of her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.

  6. My heart is so broken!! Jinkie was my supervisor at PTC. I learned a lot from her and will miss her dearly. She and I spoke about meeting up soon for sewing training. I’m so sorry for the family. Sending my prayers!!!
