She is survived by her daughters, Shannon Elizabeth Atwell of Athens, GA, Alisha Atwell Boger and her husband, Brian, of High Point, NC; granddaughters, Elizabeth Garland Boger and Caroline Vance Boger; sister, Carole Judy Clardy, and husband Sam, of Latta, SC; and her lifelong friend, Patricia Smith Newman, of Ames, Iowa. Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dickinson Atwell, parents, Thomas Clinton Judy and Agnes Thomas Judy, and brother, Thomas Clinton Judy, Jr. Libby was born in Orangeburg, SC, on September 28, 1943, and she graduated from Columbia College with a degree in education. She and Richard began their lives together in 1964, and they were married for 44 years. They each had great respect and admiration for one another, and they made for an exceptional role model for both family and friends. A high school English teacher for 40 years, Libby taught at Brookwood School in Thomasville, GA, and retired from Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA. While Mrs. A shared her love of literature, language, and grammar with those in her classroom, she also focused her attention on the potential and development of the whole student. She challenged her students to do and be their best, while providing guidance and encouragement for their future. Students weren't the only beneficiaries of her dedication and loyalty. Libby cared deeply for others. She nurtured her relationships by staying connected and letting her friends know that she genuinely loved and cared about them. There was a unique trait of Libby, in that she exhibited kindness to each person she met. Stephen Grellet stated, "I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
