I remember so many great times with Ernie and his family. always a smile on ” Big Ernies” face and always a pleasure to share a drink and jokes with.
Years have passed by since MaryEllen and I last saw him but we remeber him well and smile as we think of him and his family.
We wish his family well and hope they celebrate his life.
Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with the Franchell Family. Ernie was one of a kind and will truly be missed.
To the Franchell family:
Please accept our sincere sympathy and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have fond memories of Ernie from his visits to the Suess home, which will remind us of him whenever we see the beautiful work he did there.
May God bless you and help you find peace with his decision to take Ernie home – something must need remodeling in Heaven and we’re sure he’s up to the challenge…

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.
Uncle Ernie we will miss you! We Love you. Jada and Nikos Milis
There are things deep down in side of all of us that make us who we are. They are memories and people. Pieces of me died w/ Mike and John and another piece is gone w/ Ernie. He lived his life to the fullest and inspired many of us to do the same. It wasn’t and isn’t the amount of time spent with him, it was the quality. We can all be thankful for that. Mike was like a brother to me and Ernie could be no less. I share your loss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time. I have very fond memories of Big Ern. May all of your memories be your strength . He lives on in all of our hearts.
Love you all,
Kim Watson Mello

Sadly, I just got the news about my friend Ernie from Mo yesterday. I was stunned. I last spoke to Ern about a year and a half ago, maybe two. As always, he was positive, talking up retirement and playing the hand he was dealt, with his trademark laugh and grit.
I got to know Ernie and Mo in the late 70’s when Ellen and I moved to Atlanta and shared many, many afternoons and evenings laughing and carrying on with them and Li’l Ern and Kelly until we moved away in late 1984. Ernie was kind, he was hilarious, he was reliable, he was loyal, he was a fine, fine husband and father. Every time he came back from Buffalo he always made sure I got some of the Molson Brador stash. He remembered the past but lived in the present and for the future. I was proud to have him as a friend.
It is a great regret that I did not do a better job of staying in touch with Ernie and Mo as much as I would have liked. But whenever I called him it was always like we had been together only a week or two ago. It was always great to talk to him, remember him and talk about him. I had been hoping to vist Ernie and Mo with my wife next year when she retires.
Ernie will be remebered with a lsmile, a laugh and a tear until the day I die. He was the man.
God Bless him!
