It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hee Young Yang, age 68. She peacefully left this world on January 18, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Born on July 9, 1956, Hee Young was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was surrounded by the love of her family and remembered for her resilience, selflessness, and faith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Steven Yang. Lovingly remembered by daughter Aram Yang, son-in-law Hunter Spence, son Chong Yang, daughter-in-law Cassandra Yang, and son Samuel Yang, who will forever carry her spirit with them. She was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Ethan, Evelyn, Ezra, Amelia, and Andy, who brought her immense joy and hope in the present.
A remarkable woman of perseverance, Hee Young faced life’s challenges with incredible strength. Over 12 years ago, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a battle she endured courageously through numerous treatments. After a brief period of remission, her cancer relapsed in 2017, and she received a bone marrow transplant. Since 2022 she navigated new challenges after a sudden brain injury. Through her unwavering determination, Hee Young not only overcame the many medical challenges that came her way but also inspired all who knew her throughout her journey.
Hee Young’s life was a testament to love, family, and the power of hope. Her kindness, incredible cooking and abundance in grace will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
A farewell memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel. A private viewing will be held thereafter for the immediate family.
She will be forever in our hearts.
