James “Kit” Carson Jr., 82 of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. Born on May 8, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. Kit was raised in Doraville, outside of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Mary and Jay Carson and brother, Tommy Carson, and daughter, Stacey Carson. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Carson; his children, Kelli Shadmani (husband Alan, daughter Amanda), Rhonda Carson (sons Blake and Chase), and Ken Carson (wife Wren, children Taylor, Mallory and Ashley); his stepsons, Jamison Ousley (wife Elena, daughter Ofelia) and James Ousley (wife Wanda, children Jacque, Trudy and Ramesh); his brothers Johnny, Bill (wife Wanda, children Becky and Austin), and Rick Carson (wife Alcira, daughters Kacey and Rachel); Sister-in-law Connie King, Brother-in-law Rick Barber (Kim) & Sister-in-law Jo Cochran (Dahl), and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, and extended family.

Kit served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an A&P-licensed mechanic and taxied airplanes for Lockheed in Marietta, Georgia. For thirty years he worked for General Motors as a supervisor, retiring in 2000. In addition to his primary career, Kit also ran a successful landscape business, Sprinkler Pro. Kit was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and a certified member of the International Tribal Council of the Cherokee Red Fire People.

With his wife, Jennifer Carson, Kit traveled extensively and was active in his church and community. He was known for his friendly demeanor. Kit never met a stranger. He often signed off his calls, “keep smiling and hug the ones you love”.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on September 22, 2024, at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.

He was well accepted by us and we love him. It was wonderful getting to know him better at our Boro girls’ mountain trip. What fun we had !
