Jeannie Lois Rice, age 93 of Stone Mountain, GA passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Lois was born on Wednesday, November 28, 1923 to the late Willie Jasper and Mattie Hicks Wade. She was a lifelong resident of Stone Mountain until a move in recent years to High Shoals Health & Rehabilitation in Bishop, GA. Lois worked at the Tucker Flower Shop and was also a cashier at the Redan Elementary School. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Redan and later joined Park Place Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Raymond Rice, Sr.; son, Ralph Rice; sisters, Cathrine Cown, Connie Leach, Gladys Patterson; and daughter-in-law, Ruby Rice. Survivors include her sons, Ray Rice of Redan, GA, and Rusty Rice of Bogart, GA; grandchildren, Jeannie Collins and husband, Ron, Rhonda Spence and husband, William, Jason Rice, Kelley Roche and husband, Tommy, Kelsie Rice, Jeff Rice, Courtney Rice, and Gabriella Rice; Eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Melwood Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Hynes officiating. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Those attending the graveside service are asked to be at the funeral home by 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017. The family will receive friends Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 Pm – 8:00 PM at Wages and Sons Funeral Home Stone Mountain Chapel.
