Joan Azar Caviness was born on October 28th, 1934. Joan was a loving mother, friend, sittie, and big sittie. She passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15th, 2022.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Sadie Azar; her brother, Fred Azar; her sister-in law, Pat Azar and brother-in-law Jimmy Wheeler. She is survived by her significant other Ron Burch; sister Pat Wheeler; brother Nick (Patty) Azar; she is also survived by her children, Jimmy (Leslie) Caviness, Jill (Steve) Ulp, and Joey (Patsy) Caviness; many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Brittney (Yorx) Arevalo, Jamie (Christina) Caviness, Blake (Sonya) Caviness, Christopher (Samara) Caspari, Lacey Caviness, Jordan (Lexi) Caviness, Nicole Caspari, Bailey Ulp, Jonah Caviness, Corey Ulp, Jarred Caviness, and Averie Caviness; and several great grandchildren.
Joan was born in New Jersey then moved to Atlanta, GA where she grew up. She grew up surrounded by her family members all through school. She graduated from Hoke Smith High School. She retired from General Electric after more than thirty years. After retiring she lived in St. Augustine, Florida where she loved to take walks on the beach, read a good book and for family to come visit her. Joan enjoyed traveling in her free time, watching the Atlanta Falcon’s play, cooking Lebanese food, and playing cards/dice.
There will be a celebration of life for Joan Caviness held on Sunday, July 31st, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at the Ruby Forest Clubhouse in Suwanee, GA. 4175 Cherry Ridge Walk, Suwanee GA 30024.
