Joanne H. Newman Johnson The daughter of Joe and Polly Hawkins, Joanne was born and grew up in Murphy N.C. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, GA. and a former member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church of Murphy N.C. Joanne retired after forty plus years with The Coca Cola Company. She has been active in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Coca Cola board of directors for the Coca Cola alumni association, Business, Professional Women and First United Methodist Women and Genealogy, and a very active member in the First United Methodist Joy class. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Johnson, her parents, Polly and Joe Hawkins, sister, Frances Price, brothers, J.C Hawkins, Howard Hawkins, Johnny Hawkins and son Jeff Johnson. She is survived by her children, Lisa Murchison, Jean and Keith Young, Sandy and Steve Morris, Judy Bell, and Steve and Kristen Johnson, grandchildren Jamie and Kristi Murchison, Brad Murchison, Robert and William Johnson, Caroline Young, LeeAnn Morris, Ashleigh Morris, Brennan Morris, Rachael Bell, Carmen and Ryan Johnson, and great-grandson Doyle Murchison. Also survived by brother Joe Hawkins, sisters in law Gail and Kay Hawkins and special nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers Joanne has asked for donations be made to either The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, GA or the Shady Grove Cemetery in Murphy, N.C. A funeral will be held Saturday January 12th at 2:00pm at The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville located at 395 W Crogan St. Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
