John Alan Spohn, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 78, as a resident of Norcross, GA. Born on May 5, 1946, in Tampa, KS, John lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to family and faith.

John graduated from Kansas State University in 1968. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served honorably from 1968 to 1971. Following his service, John pursued a career as a database administrator, showcasing his love of technology and problem-solving.

He was a proud member of Mount Paran Church in Atlanta, GA, since 1986 and found great joy in his faith and community.

John was a man of many interests and passions. He had a deep love for technology, gardening, aviation, and caring for his beloved cats, Teddy and Sonny. His family remembers him as a man who made them feel safe, loved, and supported. He brought laughter and happiness to their lives with his jokes, warm smile, and great sense of humor.

John was a generous and charitable man, always willing to lend a helping hand, give thoughtful advice, or simply show concern for the well-being of those he cared about. He embodied the qualities of a loving, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jonah and Eldora Spohn, and his older brother, Jerold Spohn.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Reagin Spohn; his daughter, Amy Spohn; his grandson, Christopher Spohn, and Christopher’s fiancée, Olivia Wolff; his beloved cats, Teddy and Sonny; and his younger brother, James Spohn.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and John’s ashes will be spread on the farm at his childhood home in Kansas, as per his wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Wounded Warrior Project, causes close to John’s heart.

John Alan Spohn will be deeply missed but forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
