She was so sincere and so on point when teaching The Bible and in teaching about the importance of a personal relationship with a Jesus. She discipled the graduating class of 2000. I (Georgia Keadle Hardison, daughter of Kitty and Tim Keadle) remember Karin fondly as a Bible teacher at Smoke Rise Baptist Church. When my children were little 15 years ago, we were both regulars at Bally’s Health Club. She was always so happy to be at the health club, so dedicated to exercising, and so nice to me. I occasionally go to LA Fitness in Stone Mountain, and occasionally she was there, well outfitted and looking amazing, with thick hair and in great shape. I am sorry she has passed; it sounds like she was a wonderful lady.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
I knew Karen over 40 years, and I’ve never met anyone else like her. Her son, Christian is still one of my closest friends. I never saw her angry maybe if we tracked in mud :). But otherwise, she was one of the warmest mothers in the neighborhood. Her house was always immaculately clean and beautiful w tons of amazing art, gourmet food on the stove, and her classy mid century modern style.. She kept tons of pictures on the wall, as we grew up, When I went off to school, she sent me cookies for no reason, just kindness. When we got older, she helped host engagement parties, Came to all of our weddings. She was excited about all our kids and fell into the roll of a grandmother like it was second nature. The few times I dropped by her house w my twins, she would light up, and treated them like they were her own. And was extremely excited for all our life success. My entire family, parents, wife, kids, will miss her….
We enjoyed getting to know Karin through Christian and Saraliene. She was ever the gracious host to us and our son, Jacob, while he attended Emory. Karin, we will miss you. We hold your family in our prayers.
Our Condolences to the Durrett family.. Although we were only in her company two times; we thought what a warm, lovely and classy lady she was. Bit of humor too. We are very honored to have become the new custodians of her and Don’s beautiful Smoke Rise home. Rest In Peace Karin.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Karin only a few times and she was a pleasure to talk to. I could tell instantly she was a very loving woman and I was immediately saddened when I heard of her passing. She will be deeply missed and to the family, I extend my deepest condolences and I pray that you find peace in this time, I know she’s with God and remember the good times because that’s what will see you through. We love you????.

I am heartbroken. Karin was a delight — warm, funny, genuinely interested in others. She loved her family so much but always wanted to hear about mine. I’m blessed to have known her.

Jimmy and I are very sorry about Karin. We talked to her sometimes before or after the early service at church. When we joined LA Fitness, Karin was so nice to welcome us. We saw her there often working out on the elliptical, always looking amazing, talking with other members and enjoying herself. We were sad to learn that she had ALS, such a cruel disease. She still came to the fitness center for a little while after her diagnosis, but when she stopped coming, several of the members signed a card to let her know she was greatly missed. She touched many lives and we were blessed to know her.
My sweet Karin,
She left a beautiful imprint in this world. She met no strangers. I will hold on to the very fond memories we had together when we met up at the gym. She always made me smile with her witty humor and genuineness. May the Durrett family hold on to the strength of the Lord during this time. God bless.
Karin, what a beautiful person who blessed us and will continue to bless us with special memories of her love and joy.
Will always remember her upgrading our seats at an opera as only Karin could do.
