Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Deepest sympathies to Bruce’s family. I am still so shocked to hear of his passing. I have very good memories of his time at Bowling Green State University in the RTVF/TCOM department. So many fun times with the faculty and students from WFAL, WBGU, BG 24 News and BGRSO.

  2. Bruce was a wonderful friend. I will miss him. He was a great mentor and very memorable personality. Bruce and I spent many good times together, especially at BGSU. My prayers are with his family.

  3. We are shocked and dismayed to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of all the Klopfensteins and many family events, as well as babysitting for the boys! I was touched when Bruce and his brothers took the trouble to travel to my mother’s funeral. You are all in my thoughts.

  4. My heartfelt condolences go to all the members of the Klopfenstein family–I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about Bruce. He helped to guide my studies at BGSU and was instrumental in my professional development. Smart, really cared about his family, but a really mediocre golfer, just like me!:- Bruce will be missed and I know he will always be smiling down upon his girls.

  5. As friends of Bruce’s brother and his wife, Kraig and Diane, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We pray for all the good memories to rise to the top and for God to comfort you all.

  6. Bruce bridged the gap between his students and administration. He was approachable, personable, and very forward thinking with his research. I learned a great deal from him at BGSU and will carry forward his spirit of giving back.

  7. On behalf of the Worldwide Klopfenstein Family Reunion, please accept condolences. Our prayers are with your family.

  8. As one of Dr. K’s students, I am very saddened by his passing. He was such a kind and caring soul who deeply cared for his students. May God be with the family during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  9. While there is no way to understand why someone who is at the top of their life and career dies so suddenly, it is easy to understand why Bruce will be missed so much by so many, many people whom he influenced through his abbreviated life. My deepest sympathy and prayers are for his family who are wounded so deeply by this loss. As a friend and colleague at BGSU from the 80’s until his move to GA, I was always impressed by Bruce’s infectious enthusiasm for his chosen field of study and how he carried it over into his teaching and administrative work. Bruce was a visionary who was eager to help others see his vision or to develop their own. His influence goes on. on and on through them. Who else could have hoped and actually believed that the Indians would win a world series again! Peace to his family and to all who will miss him! I do! The world is better because of Bruce.

  10. As an international student from Malaysia, Professor Klopfenstein was a great teacher and mentor during my years at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. He was kind and patient to me, never too busy to offer advice and guidance as I strived to excel in the School of Mass Communication. Professor Klopfenstein played a key role in granting me a special scholarship to fund my studies in the U.S. For my graduation, he wrote me a wonderful letter of recommendation to help open more doors and smooth the long road ahead. For all he had done for me and other students, I am so very grateful. Professor Klopfenstein and the school are sweet memories I cherish dearly until today.

  11. Bruce was my friend, my teacher, my mentor during my MA and PhD studies at BGSU. I echo the sentiments made by Doug and Lori. Bruce was much more than my teacher and doctoral adviser. His enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to mentor others have been instrumental in making me the professor and person I am today. He inspired a sense of exploration in me that continues to this day. I truly enjoyed my years of friendship with Bruce. I know that through his former students, like myself, his work will continue.
