Herbert J. Knudsen

Herb Knudsen, age 88, of Lilburn, GA, loving husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully entered the presence of Jesus on July 24, 2010. He was predeceased two years ago by his loving wife of 52 years, Lil, and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Dan and Paige Knudsen of Lilburn, GA, son and daughter-in-law Ken and Cynthia Knudsen of Florence, SC, daughter Janet Goebel of Lilburn, and six grandchildren. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Herb graduated from Far Rockaway HS in Queens. He then worked in the banking industry for four years before serving his country as an active duty member of the Coast Guard during the four years of World War II. Following his discharge, Herb spent 30-plus years working for NY Telephone, from which he retired in 1976. After moving to South Carolina, this multi-talented man completed his career by working for another 17 years as a builder, realtor, locksmith, and handyman/painter in Columbia. Herb called Lilburn home since retiring here 16 years ago. A graveside service will be held Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Barrow Memorial Gardens, 793 Atlanta Highway, Winder, GA at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gwinnett Community Church, 455 Arnold Rd. Lawrenceville GA 30044 in his memory.
