Chief Master Sargeant Landon A. Wilde (ret.) passed away on Jan 11, 2022. Landon is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Patricia Stepp Wilde, his children: Chris(Amy), Michael(Kim), Vonda Freeman, and their four grandchildren: Ashley (Robert), Carson, Riley, and Parker. Landon lived with Parkinson’s disease for fifteen years before his passing.

Landon was born in N.C. to Lealon and Nellie Wilde. He was the youngest of five children: Harold, Ruth, and Cline is only survived by his sister Jauhnell Durham. He graduated from Flat Rock High School and attended Michigan State University.

Landon proudly served his country. He joined the Air Force in 1958 and was stationed in Lake Charles, LA, Mt. Clemens, MI, Biloxi, MS, Tonapah, NV, and Savannah, GA. The later years of military service were served in Charleston, SC, in the Air Force Reserves. Landon was a member of Cross Pointe Church, Duluth, GA

Landon was a natural-born technician who loved to build cars and trucks. Early in his life, he built and raced go-carts and was the two-time North Carolina State Champion. He loved Nascar, BBQ, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Landon had a larger-than-life personality and loved to laugh.

A memorial will take place at Wages & Sons Funeral Home (Gwinnett Chapel) on January 29th, 1pm visitation – 2pm service. Landon’s nephew, Rev. Dwayne Durham will officiate.

Landon will be laid to rest at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on a date to be determined.

In place of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
