Larry passed away after a brief time of suffering pancreatic cancer. He was 85. At the time of diagnosis he told his daughter that he had hoped for 10 more years but could confidently say he had lived a good life.
Larry grew up in (early years) Johnston City, Illinois and (later) Chicago. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He earned his living as an auto mechanic and never lost his love for 1950’s and 1960’s classic cars.
Larry was married to Carol’e Jo for 55 years. She proceeded him in death by 10 years to the very day. Also proceeding him in death- his mother Beulah, his father Loy and his beloved son Loy Leon Lawrence. Larry leaves family who will miss him. His daughter- Lora and husband Rick. Grandchildren and great grandchildren- Rachel Gyldholm and daughter Beaulah Grace. Larry Branam, wife Maggie and their son Nathaniel.
No service is planned at this time by Larry’s own request.
Papa was once one of my closest friends. I love him very much and I’m sad to say goodbye. I will always cherish the good times, his laugh, his humor, and his love for goofy commercials. I pray that in his moments of lucidity in the end he cried out to Jesus. I sure would like another hug one day.
Dad was the best father in law in the world I will miss him dearly he was funny and full of love and life he loved his family fiercely and I will see him again one day I love you DAD
I have many fond memories of my Great Uncle Larry. His funny phrases and expressions still linger. We always enjoyed spending time with him and our cousins Loy and Laura at Grandma Beulah’s house in Johnston City. Uncle Larry was always entertaining and always genuine. He is greatly missed.
