  6. I was sadden to learn of your passing you were an inspiration to us working at U.S Embassy Kingston Jamaica. May your soul rest in peace and I pray by God’s Grace your family will be comforted.

  7. My heart is so full to learn of the loss of my friend, I cherish the years of your friendship for ever in my heart. My most favorable and best place to ever work was with you at the Embassy, I remember a time when did a concert for the staff and you Dahila Stewart-Collins myself and one other did Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stop in the name Love , and we also did the Spinners Cupid Draw back you now what laugh it was dressed to do the parts?.

Little did I know that when spoke on Wednesday it would be the last time I would hear you say hello Arlene C Lewis-Marr your signature greeting. You were truly an icon and an inspiration to the US Embassy in Jamaica

Love and will truly miss you my fren RIP, I pray for guidance and comfort for your family in this time of grief❤️❤️❤️❤️

  8. I also met you when I joined the Embassy, and although we did not work closely together, I always admired your professional demeanor and the wonderful rapport you had with your colleagues. I also remember the concert where you were a Supreme and also a Spinner. RIP Madge. My prayers for strength and comfort are with your family and friends during this sad time.

  9. I worked with Madge at The Embassy for years and she was the life of the entire office. She organised and coordinated many events. Always smiling! Great memories and she will be missed. My condolences to Delano and rest of her family.
    Love
    Carla Swaby

  10. I cannot describe what I feel when I think that Madge is no longer here. I am still in shock knowing that I had just spoken to her on Wednesday. I will treasure the fond memories we created from our days working at the U.S. Embassy and Coca-Cola, studying at Shorter University, and our fun evenings at Jonkanoo Lounge. Our last conversation and the laughter we shared will live on with me forever. It was such a blessing knowing this sweet spirit. Rest peacefully, my dear friend, in the arms of your maker, and may your family find peace in God and be comforted knowing that you left an indelible mark on the lives of each and everyone of us.

  11. How can I forget your bluntness, smile and beautiful, work-of-art make up? I remember the gold eye shadow☺☺. Not to mention your moves on the netball court, our group performance as “Diana Ross and the Supremes”, dialects and dance, which were on display at those concerts held at the Mutual Life Building that, not only did they become the highlighted and anticipated event at the Embassy but they also revealed, surprisingly, the extra-curricular activities and talents of its employees. You were “head cook and bottle washer” at most, if not, every happening – leader, coordinator, choreographer – you took charge and delivered. Aaaahhh!! those were indeed the days when employees weren’t just mere co-workers, but a strong family unit as well. Those are just a few cherished memories of you.

RIP Madge and may light perpetual shine. I know you will still be helping the angels in heaven to perfect their make-up skills.

My prayers and thoughts are with the family during and after this difficult period.

    Maureen Lewis
    American Embassy
    Anti-Fraud Unit

  12. Rest in peace my friend – you touched all of us and your spirit continues to live on. We will treasure our memories of you.

    Michele

We mourn with you the passing of Madge she was truly a bright light in our lives as a former Embassy employee we have fond memories of Madge.

Although she has left us I know that she is resting in the arms of our Saviour and Lord and I know that we can take comfort in the knowledge that we will meet again and to her children her legacy lives on in each of you.

  14. I was so saddened to hear of Madge’s passing and even though we had not encountered since we both left the Embassy I still feel the grief of the loss of someone so young and vibrant. Sending huge, huge hugs for Delano, the children grand-kids and family, praying for strength on this rocky road knowing that in our faith you will see her again. RIP Madge.

  15. Madge you’re surely miss by me for your easy going, bright smile that keep the group of girls from Jonkonoo lounge, u were the mother of that group, gone too soon my dear friend, may your soul RIP…

  16. Valerie Richards. Madge you will be missed by all..God lend you to us for a time. Rest in peace sweet lady.

  17. Gone but will not be forgotten! You left a mark here on earth. I know you are planning the next best concert for ALL to enjoy and remember forever.. You were an inspiration. See you on the other side.
    Go in peace, Madge.
    You will be GREATLY MISSED!!!

In closing as you would address me, “yes Miss Kerion McGregor” and so I say, Madge Barnett, RIP. Your memory will live on!

  18. This is really sad! Working with her in the Budget Office of the U.S. Embassy was full of good times. Always planning an event, netball, concerts – where we all made fools of ourselves – outings etc. My regards to Delano, children and grandchildren. R.I.P. Madge, Gone too soon!

  19. Madge, When I first met you at Delta Airlines, you were always helping fellow coworkers, and passengers. A trusted and true leader. We always looked forward to anytime we would have an event. You supported anyone, that needed help inside and outside of the airport. I’m sorry I won’t be able to be at your service, but I will send prayers for your family and friends. We will forever remember, your smile, kindness and making work enjoyable. A beautiful lady, and class act. I love you.

  20. Madge was the best friend anyone could have. She always chose to be kind over being right. There was nothing Madge could not organize: the Embassy Netball team, the team fundraisers, uniforms, etc. In addition, I will always be grateful to her for introducing me to a great doctor at UWI over 30 years ago; he, too, was shocked to hear of her passing. In Madge, we have lost a woman whose actions and words epitomized true friendship. Yes, she was one of a kind, and I will never forget her. Rest in Peace, my dear friend.
“Time is….too long for those who grieve…But for those who love, time is eternity.”
Delano, Diane-Kaye, Christopher, and Sheryl, I am thinking of you with heartfelt condolences. God Bless you all.

  21. My sympathies goes out to the family of a friend and former colleague. I pray that God will give the strength and confort to the families during this time of grief. May her soul rest in peace

  22. Madge has certainly left legacy of friendships and special memories. She loved life and touched so many lives with her wry sense of humor, beautiful smile and talent for organizing fun, or taking a stand on a particular issue. A life well lived, RIP Madge, safe in the Father’s arms.

  23. It was with deep sadness that I learnt of the passing of a childhood friend–Madge. Many beautiful memories have surfaced some of which frankly were forgotten. Richmond St Mary became alive again with images of us walking playing and being mischievous. I remember when you could not contain yourself as you took me to meet DB.
You truly have gone too soon!!!!!!
Walk good my Friend your memories will live with me

  24. I learnt of Madge’s passing with shock and sadness. She, truly has gone too soon.

Like many of my other former colleagues who have shared their memories of our time spent at the U.S. Embassy with Madge as a colleague, I remember her ‘can do’ attitude, there was no problem for which she couldn’t find a solution. She was the consumate organizer – from concerts to my wedding shower many, many years ago. I remember having been a member of the ‘Diana Ross and the Extremes’ group and the netball team which everyone so fondly remembers.

Madge will long be remembered for her many acts of kindness and the positive way in which she touched so many lives.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Delano, Diane-Kaye, Christopher, and Sheryl and the rest of her family and friends as they grapple with their loss. May they find comfort in the happy memories and the knowledge that she lived a life that mattered.

    Rest in peace my friend.

    Alicia

  25. I remembered how much you touched the lives of those around you. How much zest you had for life and for being involved in all those events….fundraisers, netball, etc. I though how you had such a knack for PR here at the US Embassy in Kingston. Such fond memories.

My sincrest condolences go out to Delano and the children. You will be missed Madge. Rest in Peace.

  26. Although it’s been many years since I have seen or spoken to Madge she remained a friend having a special place in my heart. Only Madge could have gotten me to enter the Ms. Netball contest, or dressed up as one of the Supremes at one of our famous concerts, or spend a week in a grave yard hostel in Cayman. ? We had lots of fun and you sure knew how to bring friends together to have a good time. Thanks for introducing me to ‘happy hour’ at the Jonkanoo Lounge and taking me on my first trip to Atlanta Georgia. You might be gone Madge but not forgotten my friend. RIP!

  28. So saddened to hear of the passing of Christopher’s mom. Chris has been a close friend of my son and our family, Although, I met Madge through my mom and later Chris. She was responsible for renting my Aunt’s property in Jamaica to US diplomats while at the US embassy. I pray that her husband, children, grandchildren and relatives will be comforted by beautiful memories of Madge, and the positive impact she has made on others. May God, protect you, give you strength, strengthen your faith, give you peace and wrap His loving arms around you all at this difficult time.

  29. I was shocked when I heard that my godmother, Aunty Madge, passed away. Not only was she a great godmother, but she was a dear friend to my mom, Dahlia. Based on all the stories I have heard about her, they explain why everyone loved and respected her. I will always remember the weekends I spent with her when I was younger even though she would remind me that I would cry when she took me to church and I would kick my shoes off. RIP Aunty Madge, I will miss you dearly.

  30. The Baggage Service Dept at Delta Air Lines will never be same. You were a bright spot in the department and I looked forward to working with you every night. I will miss your smile and all the fund raisers you put together to help anyone and everyone. I am so saddened by your passing. Prayers to the family. You will never know how much we loved Madge.

  31. The day that I heard that Madge was taken from us my heart broke. Madge was a colleague and friend from our days at the U.S. Embassy. I remember it was fun being around Madge who was always the life of the party. I will always have wonderful memories of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with Delano, Diane-Kaye, Christopher, Cheryl and her grandchildren during this sad time.

  32. May your soul rest in peace, just remembering the good social times is enough to make one feels depressed of your passing, you are definitely missed by all of us, and we are glad to pay our last respects, even in spirit.

  33. ❤️❤️❤️ Miss you mommy!! I know you are smiling down on us and with us every day in spirit. Until we meet again ???????????????????????? Cher
