Margaret Maxine (Berkley) Lewis, 96, passed away on August 20th, 2016, at Rosemont at Stone Mountain nursing home, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Margaret was born January 3rd, 1920, in Hamlin, Kansas, to Arthur Elias and Hazel Merle (Chadwick) Berkley. She graduated from Sabetha High School (Sabetha, Kansas) in 1936. She graduated from the Kansas City, Missouri, General Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in World War II, which included an assignment in England. She was a private duty nurse for over 20 years in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1974, she retired to be near her mother in St. Helens, Oregon. In 1997, she moved to Dayton, Ohio, to be near her daughter and son-in-law, and moved with them to Tucker, Georgia, in 2003. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur Milton Berkley; and son, Michael Lewis. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, John Phipps of Tucker, Georgia. No local services. Arrangements by Wages & Sons, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kansas.
