Marie Athalie Murdoch

Marie Athalie Paden Murdoch of McDonough and formerly of Lithonia passed away on July 19, 2015 at the age of 96. Marie was born in Suwanee, Georgia on July 13, 1919 to the late Howard Earnest and Elizabeth Bessie Higgins Paden. She was loving wife to Hal Albert Murdoch and sister of Lillian Montine Abbott, Howard Raymond Paden and Paul Rich Paden, all now deceased. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Beth, by granddaughter Claire Thurmond and her husband Will, and by nieces and nephews. Marie lost her husband, Hal, when he was only 38 years old. Although she never remarried, she took comfort in the love of her family, living with her mother and sister for much of her life, drawing support from her brothers, and always adoring her son, daughter in law, and granddaughter. She was a longtime member of Lithonia First Methodist Church, where she had many warm and caring friends. Graveside services and interment will occur at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Dr. SW Atlanta Georgia 30310 on Tuesday July 21st at 2:00 p.m. Those attending should meet at the cemetery gate at 1:30 p.m. Those who wish may sign an on-line guest registry at wagesandsons.com.
