Marta Maria Carla Quarteni Crane

Marta Maria Carla Quarteni Crane passed on to her heavenly home at the age of 95, on December 4th 2023. She was born in Florence, Italy on May 15th 1928 to Dario Quarteni and Livia Fattori Quarteni; younger Brother, Piero.

Marta passed away in her home surrounded by Family. Marta is predeceased in death by her husband of 40 years, Leroy Crane and her son, Christopher Crane. Marta leaves behind her son Steve (wife Beverly), daughter Livia (husband Paul), her grandchildren Carla (Dean), Brad, and Errol (Emily) as well as her great grandchildren, Ashton Cox and Layla Cox. Marta’s funeral service will be held on December 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Wages and Son’s Funeral Home on Hwy. 29 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Father Christian from St. Lawrence Catholic Church will preside over Marta’s service.

Marta grew up in Florence, Italy where she honed her craft as an artist at the British Institute of Art in Florence. In 1946, after World War II, Marta married an American soldier, Leroy Crane. In 1947, Marta and her husband moved to Winder, Georgia. It was there Marta and Leroy started a family on a 109 acre farm. Marta and Leroy had 3 children; Steve, Livia, and Chris. While raising her children, Marta was the forms designer for the Georgia Department Revenue for 30 years. She was recognized by former Governor’s Jimmy Carter and George Busbee for her contributions to the State of Georgia. After retiring, Marta volunteered at the social security office for another 20 years. During the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996, Marta was the translator for the Italian teams which she thoroughly enjoyed. In her retirement she continued her extensive travels with her dear Friends and Family. Marta spent the last 12 years of her life living with her Daughter and Son In Law and enjoying her Family. It was the authentic connection she had with everyone she encountered that made her so very memorable. Marta’s big heart and overwhelming love for family and life will be forever missed.
