February 11, 1938 ~ April 6, 2023

Born in: Dacula, Georgia
Resided in: Dacula, Georgia

My dear mother Martha Williams Martin sadly passed away on April 6th, at the age of 85. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Dacula, GA, everyone wanting to call her mama. She loved traveling around the south, especially the mountains of Tennessee and a family campsite at Lake Lanier. Martha was an avid card player and wonderful hostess for family and friends. She and her late husband, Joel, hosted the Martin family Thanksgiving from 1976 until 2019.

Martha was born February 11, 1938 in Dacula, GA and lived her entire life in the Dacula and Lawrenceville area. She graduated from Dacula High School in 1956. She was a long-time retiree of Colonial, Big Star and A&P stores.

Martha was predeceased by her parents, James and Evelyn (Mimi) Williams; her husband, Joel Martin; her son David Gunter; her step-son David Martin; and her brother, Jimmy Williams.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gunter of Dacula, GA, her sister, Winky Knight, of Carrollton, GA, the Gunter family of Lawrenceville, GA, the Martin family of Canton and Kennesaw, GA as well as many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

  1. CandleImageMiss Martha was one of the sweetest, kindest ladies I’ve ever had the privilege to know. She raised a fine daughter on her own. She was Carol’s biggest fan and she welcomed Carol’s friends with open arms and sweet hugs. I was lucky enough to be one of those friends. She always had a sweet smile and kind word for all. My heart aches for your loss, Carol. But, I rejoice in the knowledge that Martha is with our Lord smiling upon you ….knowing the woman you’ve become. I love you!!
