Guestbook

  1. Matina, May your gentle soul rest in peace. My condolences to Martina’s family and her many special friends.

  2. Jen and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I’m so sorry that I did not get to see her one more time. It was an absolute pleasure taking care of her, what a sweet and beautiful soul.

    With love, Jill

  3. Martina began a deep friendship with two groups of grateful friends and family–about 12 years ago.
She gave her kidney to our dear friend, Bill…they’d not met until she learned about his plight. And, so,
Bill was blessed with 11 more years of life. Her very special decision sparked new relationships and annual
‘kidney’ parties, where Martina was always thanked. Her giving soul matched her perky spirit.
She brought awareness to the need and wonders of being a living organ donor. She will be remembered
as an angel, long before her passing. May her family, especially the grandchildren, remember her as a
very special lady. Thank you, again, Martina, for your loving kindness and friendship.

  4. I will never forget your encouraging words about my son.. Thanks for all the memories. You will be missed..

  5. To The greatest Mom a kid could ever hope for. She showed us love, strength and self worth throughout our life. When we screwed up she was our biggest fan. God bless the most wonderful lady ever. God’s kingdom has received one of its most beautiful angels ever. If Gods shows favoritism surely she will be one of the favorites 🙂 You will be missed dearly, who will I call every Saturday morning? GOD give me strength.

  6. You will be missed everyday – Thank you mom for teaching us wisdom, manners, respect, compassion, generosity and love. Each of us that you have raised, including the grandchildren, are very lucky to have benefitted from your spirit.. I will let Joe know that I will pinch hit for you each Saturday morning for his call at 7:30 AM.
My heart is broken, but I will take piece in knowing that you have reunited with Dad and your many friends that have been waiting on you.
    Forever love,

  7. You are going to be forever missed by all of us! Your smile and your spirit was contagious and will live on with the family forever. I’m thankful for such an amazing Aunt in my life and will miss you everyday. I will always be thankful for and will cherish all the memories.

    Love,
    Stan

  8. You are in my heart forever! You have taught me to be stronger, kinder, more gracious and knowing you has filled me with gratitude for special friendships. You will always be a beautiful ‘Yellow Rose ‘!

  9. You are going to be missed by all who love you. I am forever grateful for the gift of sharing your amazing daughter. Jennifer was a special student who captured my heart and I am so glad you and I could share her triumphs together. Your kind, gracious heart is a precious gift you shared with all who had the honor of knowing you.

  10. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I met Martina in 1976 when I went to work for her husband Johnny Lyons, owner and operator of Lyons’ Heating & Air Conditioning Co. I was often asked to babysit the boys when they were young. I worked for Johnny for 7 years and during that time I was often invited into their home. I am thankful for all the wonderful memories I have. Thanks to Facebook, I was able to reconnect with Martina. This beautiful family is the result of the love that Johnny and Martina shared….and the love they showered on their children. My prayer is for all of you to find comfort and healing in remembering how much your mom and dad loved each other….and all of you. May God bless all.

  11. Martina will be missed. She was such a kind person. I loved having her as my synchronized swimming duet partner. My thoughts and prayers are with all who will miss her greatly.

  12. To the family: you were blessed with one of the most amazing, wonderful people I have ever known. She was a genuine friend and I will miss her. She loved all of you, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  13. Martina was the person who welcomed me to the VDC community in my new home. I saw her for the last time about 2 weeks ago when she courageously played bocce, despite how she was feeling. She always had a smile and warm way about her; that is who she was. Thoughts and prayers for her loved ones in this difficult time.

  14. We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Martina. She will be greatly missed especially her loving personality. We wish we could be there to celebrate her life with you all however we are out of town. Our sympathy and condolences to your family and prayers for Martina as she is now with the Lord.

  15. I don’t know how many mornings I will wake and pick up the phone to call my mom, my best friend. We bonded so deeply while caring for my dad. We traveled cross country, rafted the Grand Canyon, and enjoyed many happy hours with her Deaton Creek family. The strongest woman I’ve ever known, she worked full time, raised four kids, cooked dinner every night, and dealt with all the trials and tribulations thrown her way with grace, eloquence, and maybe a 5:00 happy hour. I can only hope to be half the mom, grandmom, sister, and friend she’s been to all of us.

  16. I have such wonderful memories of Martina. What a caring, giving, loving friend. She was such a hard worker and a role model for all who knew her. Blessings for all her family and friends.

  17. Lyons Family — My thoughts and prayers are with you on the loss of Martina. Someone so special can never be forgotten. I admired all those qualities that made Martina the special person she was. A friend is forever, and I will cherish all the memories.

  18. Lyons Family – you will always hold her in your heart and in your mind. May you find peace in sharing your memories.

  19. I will miss my dear friend, Martina. She had a loving kind spirit and a beautiful smile. I will cherish the many memories of playing golf with her and our friendship. My deepest condolences and prayers to her wonderful family.

  20. Martina will be missed.. She was such a kind person – always smiling and encouraging others. My thoughts and prayers are with all who will miss her greatly. VDC has lost one special lady – too soon –

  21. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have the finest angel ever to watch over you now. I extend my most sincere condolences to you.

  22. On behalf of the Langford family from Decatur, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to your family. Our history goes back many years with Martina & Johnny and Jean & Robert being such good friends and neighbors on Cambridge Avenue! Even though contacts were lost as families grew and changed, the memories of the special friendship remained. We are so saddened by your loss and will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Jean Langford, Terry & Ann Smith & family, Linda Parks & Family

  23. A fun loving golf buddy from many years past at Berkley Hills golf course. Always had a smile on her face and good thoughts for everyone.

  24. Martina exuded happiness in everything that she did. That smile and personality could light up a room. I am so glad I got to know her and will miss her tremendously. My deepest sympathy to her family.

  25. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in touch. Too long now. But, oh, the memories. Putting Johnny and Joe to bed at my house or putting Lisa to bed at yours on Cambridge. Then on to Monopoly or Life , a little pizza, some Cokes and Pepsi. So much fun.
I know your loss is great and hearts broken. But the love and memories are always there.

  26. My sincere condolences to Martina’s loving family and friends. My memories of Decatur High School always include Martina and Johnny. She was very special. They were special. Warmest wishes and prayers of comfort to all of you.

  27. Jennifer, Shonda, and Skyler-
We only met Martina a few times, but she was one of those women who lit up a room and made us aspire to be just like her. It is such a sad loss for everyone who was fortunate to know her, and our hearts break for all of you. Much love,
    Joy, Karin and Jack
