Mary Wanda Hicks, 79, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away June 25, 2019. Wanda grew up in Ringgold, Georgia, where she had many fond memories with family and friends. She came to Atlanta in 1957, to begin Nursing School. While there she met and married her husband of 61 years, James Paul Hicks. Wanda and Paul designed and built the home where they raised their three children. Wanda was a beautiful artist who loved to paint, garden, and cook. She also worked many years in the various ministries at her church. She was employed by Dekalb County as a school bus driver, for 13 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Buck and Mary Lou Pitts, her brothers, Kenneth Pitts, Wayne Pitts, and Randall Pitts, her granddaughter, Jael Myers, and her daughter, Marissa Hicks. She is survived by her husband, James Paul Hicks, her sons, Pete Hicks (Sonya Hicks) and Bucky Hicks (April Hicks) and her daughter, Denise Myers (Ken Myers), also Brothers; Bill and Marvin Pitts. She also had twelve grandchildren/great-grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly. Visitation for Mary Wanda Hicks will be held, Thursday, June 27th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wages and Sons Funeral Home 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, GA. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28th. at Wages and Sons.

  5. God blessed my life with Wanda. As a child, I spent many days and nights with this loving family.

    I always admired Wanda’s faith and the commitment she showed to her family. She will be missed but there’s not a doubt in my mind that she is in a better place. Thoughts and prayers to all.
