Matthew Nicholson age 42 of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on
February 27,2024 from complications after having a stroke on November 13,
2023, while at work. He fought hard to recover, however lost his long battle
to heart failure.

He was born on October 12,1981 in Decatur, Georgia. He was a beloved son,
brother and friend, known for his kind heart, strong work ethic and quiet
demeanor. He always led by example, including his time playing football and
his work career exuding humor, care, and pride in everything he did.

In his career, Matthew last served as a lead supervisor of the Frozen Food
Dept at Kroger where he displayed his dedication, hard work and leadership
skills which touched all who worked with him. Kroger was his second home
and family. Outside of work, he found joy in hobbies such as swimming,
fishing, basketball and CrossFit.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Rick and Anna Nicholson, sister Christie
Nicholson, uncles and aunts: Ray and Linda Nicholson, Randy and Susan
Nicholson, Lou and Bo Cefus, Izabela Sysiak, special cousin Bonnie Johnson
along with numerous other cousins and family members. He was preceded in
death by his grandparents John and Frances Nicholson, Kazimierz and
Bogumila Zawlocki and his Uncle Robby and Cousin Josh Nicholson.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date to honor and
remember Matthew’s life.

Contributions to his memory can be made to the Brain and Behavior
Research Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia is assisting with
arrangements.

Matthew will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his memory will
forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A special thanks is given to all of the prayer warriors who helped Matthew
and his family along the way.

  4. CandleImageI remember Matt as a young boy and then a teenager. My daughters Sarah and Kate Barker used to play with Matt and Christy when we all lived in Crossing Drive. Matt was a great guy. Always so kind and polite. Such a shock. He will be greatly missed. We are praying for y’all. 🙏🙏🙏
