James Louis Meeks Sr. passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents, Comer and Bessie May Meeks. James was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 29, 1942. At the age of 17, he entered the United States Air Force where he served 4 years. After serving in the military, James began work at the Local 72 where he worked for 40 years as a master plumber. When James was not working he enjoyed the game of baseball, where he influenced many people with his knowledge and love for the game. James will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Willene; brother Billy Meeks ; sister Jane Wingo; daughter Misty Hawkins; sons Todd, James, and Shannon Meeks; seven loving grandchildren; and the rest of his family and friends. The Family will receive friends at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, Georgia on Thursday February 21, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Wages and Sons Funeral Home on February 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Bobby Campbell officiating. Interment to follow at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 E Ponce De Leon Ave, Stone Mountain, GA.

  7. Willene and family – I was so sorry to hear of James’ passing. I knew he was sick but did not know until after the funeral that he had passed – some of the family would’ve come if we had known. I lost my precious N.A. on 12/15/12 to cancer, so I know some of the pain you are going thru. I pray that God will give you strength for each day during this very difficult time.
