Michael James Brown

Mike was born on January 12, 1939 in Huntington, West Virginia to James “Pappy” Brown and Louise Davis Brown. During his early years, Mike was a stand-out in football, track and field at his high school. At the age of 20, he joined the Navy where he served side by side with his father and younger brother, Steve. Mike’s brother David served in the Air Force at the same time.

Mike was an avid bowler and card player with Uno and Phase10 being his favorites. Other interests included crafting and woodworking; coaching his sons’ little league teams; building model ships and cars; and even oil painting (with questionable success, he admitted).

Mike was a kind, soft-spoken, and dedicated Christian. Family was the most important part of Mike’s life. Mike was surrounded by numerous loved ones when he went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 13. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Jean; daughter Robin; sons Mike Jr, Bob, and Mike; grandchildren April, Brandon, Christina, DJ, Jesse, Katie, Macayla, Michael, Ryan, TJ, and Tori; great grandchildren Austin, Axle, Baylie, Campbell, Connelly, Cooper, Harrison, Kendall, Maisie, Nova, Paisley, Remy, Walker, Weston, and Wyatt; nieces Denise, Karri, Kelli, Lisa, and Michelle; and former spouse, Linda.

Family and friends are invited to a brief graveside service on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114. A celebration of Mike’s life is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024, 2:00 pm at Central Church, 11157 City Pond Rd, Covington, GA 30014.
