Michael John Nocula, age 80, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on April 18, after a valiant battle against Lewy body dementia.

Mike was born on November 6, 1939 to Helen and John Nocula in Olympia, Washington. He graduated from high school in 1957 and later from University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Michael enlisted in the United States Navy on September 17, 1961 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant on April 12, 1962. He was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War era and separated from the Navy on June 12, 1967.

Mike had a long, successful career in the hospitality industry serving as assistant manager and manager at several of the large hotel chains across the United States.

After retirement, Mike became active as a volunteer for the Gwinnett Senior Learning Centers serving as an instructor and coach of various classes and served on the publicity committee as Chairman.

Mike enjoyed auto racing, swimming, and archery and won several awards for his swimming and archery prowess.

Mike is survived by his brother Steve Nocula who resides in Yakima, Washington.

Mike had many friends and will be severely missed by all!

  1. Mike will be missed so very much. I was happy to be able to get to know Mike at the Gwinnett Senior Learning Center.
    We coached several classes together and he had such a wealth of knowledge to share. Such a kind and beautiful person. My prayers go out to his family and the memories he has left with us will always be in our Hearts. RIP Mike
